Barrett will get the job if fit - no question.

Selectors have no faith in Hill, Campbell or Anasta... I'm not saying they're right, just saying how it is...

Baz just lifts when playing for NSW, he always has a blinder

Can anyone here find a game where hasnt played well for the blues

Barrett for NSW #6 to carve up Lockyer, just like Kenny used to kill Wally in origin.

lets see how they go this yr when Lockyer is FIT and well. Last yr he played with a busted rib.

Kenny never killed Wally. Kenny was able to sometimes match it with Wally, but "killing" is way too strong a word.

Kenny and Wally are the two best 5/8s I've ever seen. I beleive it's true that when Kenny opposed Lewis at 5/8 NSW had a winning record, whereas the King "killed" every other 5/8 NSW lined up...

And matching it is understatement

Yeah - I'm pretty sure that even Wally would agree - there was nothing between them... just very different 5/8s

MATCH it? Charlie, Bert KILLED him! Kenny has a 8-4 winning Origin record when opposing Lewis.

Wally Lewis was but a mere shadow of Brett Kenny.

yeah and anthony mundine never lost to Daley and Fittler as a 5/8
statistics like that are BS.
If kenny was soooooooooooo great then how come his longevityas an origin player is not matched by Wallys. 1980-1991...some record.
I am not saying kenny was a bad player, far far from it.
However there is only one King

Barrett at his best can stand with the greats of the last 25 years - Wally, Bert, Lozza and Freddy - but those guys did it week in, week out for years. Barrett never stays up for long and usually only in rep football.

Yup only 1 King- but Kenny retired early from rep footy, Kenny wasalso selected ahead of Wally at 5/8 on one Roo tour, and was a great 5/8 in the Sydney premiership (something Wally never managed.

So while I agree the King is the King, and he is/was Origin football - Brett Kenny was the one player to be his equal, and there was no question that BOTH would always been in any Australian team

wally may not have played in the syd comp in his prime, but the sydney comp was not some high and mighty comp you may think it was.
The qld boys managed to kick NSW butt in 6 of the series (1980-1987) before the broncos came into the comp in 1988.

Barrett cannot seriously be a SOO player this year. The Face has always been overrated and NSW would be far better served picking Campbell, or having Orford at 5/8th outside Kimmorley.

Then why was Origin born, so the best Queenslanders were playing in the Sydney comp could play for Queensland? Pre Origin, we saw how good your local comp was. Produced, what, 1 series win in 50 years?

If you are suggesting that Wally's efforts in the brisbane comp matched Kenny's in the Sydney comp then you are a bigger dingbat than I thought.

Which world class 5/8 was Wally up against in Brisbane? Ross Strudwick?????

Kenny would be required to do battle v the likes of Terry Lamb, Alan Thompson, Steve Morris etc. Kenny was all over Lewis at 5/8. And Kenny has his grand final records as well.

There is a reason that Kenny was test 5/8 in ,82 over Lewis, and it wasn't due to incesssent whinging about potential conspiracies if he was'nt picked.

Ask Wigan fans who was the best 5/8 of the modern era.

no i am not suggesting that your tosser.
However if you want to use that angle then that makes wally even better.
I mean he played against nevilles (so called) in the qld comp and then when origin came around he made the NSW boys look silly. Just shows how great wally wasat the time.
Someone like Kenny was match hardened with the sydney comp and was at the top of his game.
Dont compare GF records when wally only played 3 good yrs in the sydney comp.
If Wally went to manly in the sydney comp (he was offered alot by the eagles) then we would have seen how many comps the eels would have won.
Interesting to note, Sterling said the best player he ever played with or saw was Wally.
