Possible NSW 5/8's

Wally never nade NSW look silly when Bert was 5/8!

When we played Manly in '82 and '83, they had already cornered a virtual test side. Wally would have made no difference. Silly hypothetical.

Just checked. Manly had 10 internationals in the '82 GF, and 11 in the '83 GF.

Parra flogged 'em both. Bert scoring 2 tries in each game against the test 5/8 of the time (Alan Thompson). Can't get much better than that.

Meanwhile, Wally was probably doing well against a bricklayer from Shailer Park who trained as a 5/8 twice a week after work (when he remembered his boots). ;-)

silly it might be, and just as silly as you comparing GF records.

Oh, I thought grand final achievements were an accurate indication of a players ability. Silly me!

misty bee those comments just prove you are a dickstick.
Bert scored two tries vs alan Thompson
Last time i checked league was not like basketball where you are guarded by your opposing player (guard on guard, centre on centre, forward on forward)

that dribble you wrote has anthony mundine written alllllllllllllllll over it.
Get a clue about league will you.
They have a book out there..."league for dummies" i will buy you a copy.

they are to an extent yes, but not when you compare two players that didnt play in the same comp for most of their playing lives.

No, King Charles (good name for a spaniel BTW)

I'm saying that Bert scored 2 tries in consecutive grand finals v a virtual Test side.

But seeing as though the opposing 5/8 is irrellevent to how a teams 5/8 fares in a game, lets revisit Wally in Origin. If Kenny was NOT the reason that Wally lost so many Origins when they both played, HOW COME LEWIS LOST SO MANY OF THEM?

PLease forward you answer in no less than 500 words by C.O.B. today. :p

i didnt say it was irrelevant you wanker did i.
You clearly wrote :
" Bert scoring 2 tries in each game against the test 5/8 of the time (Alan Thompson)"
thats mundine talk...and we know the crap he spits out.
I outplayed daley and fittler when i played them. Yeah, what about the other 22 games you played!

and i said that is not how you look at a game.
Wingers on wingers yes, but 5/8s dont really match up against each other. They very very rarely come into contact with each other.

If the sydney comp was sooooooooooooo great then how come they only won 2 series in the 80s? TWO!!! Most of the QLD team in those yrs played in the so called "lesser" comp in qld. How come the qld boys made them look so silly.

Wally played 31 games, won 8 Man of the match awards, was involved in 8 winning series. How many did Brett win as a blue? 2?

Kenny was reserved and never spoke like Mundine. It was Wally who was the outspoken 5/8 of the time. What about the other 22 games? Good enough to land him in the Aust jumper ahead of Lewis you bonehead!!!!!

Why did Qld win so many series? Because it was ORIGIN based. Had it remained residency based, Qld would have continued losing like they had since the days of Dally Messenger. Don't you remember your mob squealing for decades because the likes of Beetson, Reddy, Lang, Higgs etc played in blue jumpers?

Charles, you are quite clearly swimming in the deep end without your water wings. Stay in the wading pool where it's safe, ok?

misty bee, the offer still stands if you want that book..."league for dummies"
you clearly are a dummy of the highest order when it comes to league talk.

With regards to mundine talk i never said kenny was like that...i was just saying that the dribble you came up with "kenny scored 2 tries vs thompson" is mundine like. ITs laughable.

So if you reckon Kenny scoring 2 tries in 3 consecutive grand finals is not worthy of note, you had better keep your book. You need to re-read it.

But of course, if Wally's weekly efforts against whatever suburban hack fronted him each weekend is enough to give you a boner, then I'm happy for you.

Just one question: if the Bisbane comp was so hot in the 1980's, then shouldn't the NRL consist of:

Redcliffe
Valleys
Easts
Souths
Norths
Brothers
Wynnum
North Queensland
New Zealand
Newcastle
Canberra
Melbourne
and
Sydney Broncos?

Dingbat!

i never said it was hot did i?????? It wasnt bad, but it wasnt the crap you seem to think it is.
I also made no bad remarks to kenny scoring 2 tries in back to mack GFs vs the eagles. Great effort, no question, but there is more to kennys career than 4 tries.

As i said before, if the qld comp was soooooooooo bad by your reckoning then how come he majority of those players in the qld comp outplayed the blues?
you have not answered me.
QLD pulled out some garden statue called Alan Langer in 1987 and he blew the nsw team apart.

And it's wasnt the same, as you appear to claim.

Yes there is, the sum of which made him better than Lewis. Kenny played in a far tougher comp prior to 1988. It was regarded worldwide as the toughest leage comp in the world, that why we had the best players coming from QLD, NZ and the UK playing in it. The QRL comp, as good as it was, was only made up of Queenslanders. The cream came to play in Sydney.

And that's why Origin was formed. So you coulds get those Sydney based Queenslanders in your jumper!

There are otehr resons for QLD's success. They went into camp to prepare for the game. NSW, in the early days, met the day before the matrch. Suicide. Then there was the Gomersall factor. Chris Close's disgusting cat attack on Eric Grothe was another. And sometimes they just played better football.

But it doesn't mean that Wally was God because he played well in the only 3 tough games of the season.
QLD pulled out some garden statue called Alan Langer in 1987 and he blew the nsw team apart

Was that the same bloke who won only 2 series in the 1990's?

sometimes they just played better football? sometimes? thats why they won 8 series in the 80s is it? because they "sometimes played better football"

If the NSW players were sooooooooooo good then meeting the day before should not have mattered. Stop making stupid excuses Bee, the Blues had their (_._) handed to them all the time.
NSW had succes for 2 yrs, and then were creamed before and after that.
Barry Gomersall
what about mick stone awarding a try to McGaw in 1987?
What about Harrigans TWO missed knock ons in game 1 2000 which cost QLD the game?
Dont bring refs into it as it has little merit

he kicked a field goal to win the game...welll whooooooopty dooooooooooooo.
If you have some league brains in your head you will know he should never have been chosen at 5/8 for NSW.
so the dude who scored a try and kicked the winning field goal should not have been 5/8?

are you one of those who prefer stylish losses instead of ugly wins?
LOL! well done mr "rugby league brain"

yes he scored a try and kicked a field goal. Qld still scored 2 tries to one in that game in case you have forgotten.

that's a pretty weak effort charlie ;-)
who won that game?
would you be unhappy if your team scored less tries but still won?
surely tonie carroll could have kicked a field goal to win it ;-)

Just like how TC tore up the the "mighty" dragons at WIN stadium.
Has Barrett had enough of throwing inside passes to Hornby yet? Defences are not stupid anymore, they know whats going on with those two.
Its the same with Timmins, all he does is dummy and the defences know he has zero.

hmmmmm.....
i take it from this attempted misdirection that arguments regarding 1st state of origin '04 are off the agenda now?
