Possible NSW Origin Line-ups

Lewis played his way in to NSW tonight.

The wingers did everything they could to secure a berth for Nathan Merritt.

Even El Magic missed a goal!

Poor old Gidley, but it was mini-magic that caused his most embarrassing moment. As they say, s&*t happens.

The Yak may get a spot on the NSW bench.

I would go with that but make 2 changes. White in for Simpson, and Gidley instead of Farrah. I think Farrah is a great player but Gidley is the ultimate utility playing fullback, wing, centre, 5/8, halfback, hooker and even lock.

5. An absolute lottery, Hayne played well last night so he is probably the frontrunner with El-masri and Stewart in contention

7. City-Country showed up Gower and Kimmorly, putting Matty Orford squarly in the frame

14.the class of Farah V the versitility of Gidley

16 & 17. If Mason plays in the backrow it will be a prop and a backrower, if he plays prop, you could throw in two backrowers. the three backrow contenders are Tupou, Hoffman and Bird. your three prop contenders are White, Ryles and the injured O'Meley

I'd Go with

El Masri's plugged away for so long... I think he's due for a sky blue jumper.

well Stewart did no favours for his claims last night.

close to the worst player on the park.

Gower was awful too.

And Gidley just has to be there. Farah? Absolutely disgraceful last night. Gidley showed his utility value and the Blues will need that.

He wasn't disgraceful but in attack he and Gower offered little in and around the halves and dummy half area. Gidley and Orford would be ideal at 6&7 for mine, Buderus a shoe-in after a solid showing last night.

How did Gidley show his Utility value? He was picked as a 5/8 and when Kimmorley went down he had to try and play like one but he just showed he is not a 5/8. He gave the team no direction at all. He is much better at fullback but at the moment he isnt in with a chance for that jumper. Farah was solid last nite and his form in the NRL this season should see him get a jumper playing similar to how Wing has over the past few years backing up Budderus and slotting into the halves if need be

How did Gidley show his Utility value?

I don't know if you bothered to tune in, but Gidley was first shifted to the centres and then ended up in first receiver. Sure, it's not covering a huge selection of roles - but it meant he played two more than his other 'utility' opposition.

I for one would not pick Lyon, he is playing so poorly.

But with no Lyon, it means there are no quality goalkickers.. which means El Masri would have to be picked...thus I think the NSW selectors will pick a dud to put some firepower on the Wings.

Also, there are only two NSW players who can win an SOO game right now on form, that's Farah and Campbell.

If you go into this years series without picking one of them, and more poignantly, picking Gidley over Farah.. then you are already conceeding to QLD.. and jusy trying to lose by as few points as possible, maybe relying on Mason crunching through the QLD forwards...

If NSW "play-makers" are a choice from Kimmorley/Gower/Orford/Anasta/Hornby/Gidley NSW will lose.... all six of them are rep level nuffies.
