possible replacement for Ellis

Lewis is great player and a straight swap for Blair would be superb, but realistically, how many backrowers do we need?

How many quality backrowers do you think we have? This percerption that we are flush with backrowers is a myth.

BMM and Bell should be front rowers. Blair is a joke. Heighington is well past it. IMO Fulton is our only quality back rower.

I think we have props coming out of our backside. Play BMM at prop along with Bell.

As you state who do we have in the backrow ? Fulton, Blair, Heighno, BMM (maybe) and Bell. We don't have a great backrower apart from Ellis. Maybe Blair and Fulton with someone like Ellis gives us a good backrow but we need that one class player.

I'm a bit skeptical that Lewis is the player that we need because he is not a tackle busting player like Ellis but I still think he would slot straight in.

Not sure I agree about Lewis not being a tackle buster. I've seen him bust plenty, namely against us. Although at the moment, I'd probably bust through our shoddy defence.

So it appears the Tigers are almost equal with the Sharks regarding favouritism to sign Lewis.

Lewis has recently bought a family home in Penrith, so travel could be a telling factor for him, and something in the Tigers favour.

He's also good mates with Farah.

Ellis and Tuqiri gone. Possibly get rid of Hino as well and we could find ourselves with enough coin to snare Lewis (Considering salary cap is also likely to increase significantly next year.

It will be great if we can get his signature. Would be worth offloading a few of the lesser perfomers to make space. No point dreaming of Blair being thrown into the mix...........

If we had a back row of
11 - Lewis
12 - Blair
13 - Fulton

We could almost hide Blair and get away with it.

Ha!!!!

On current form I'd be hiding him in the State Cup. If they signed him to be the 'hard man' WT were terribly mistaken. I hope he can turn it around but its not looking good. More than half a season should be more than enough for an international grade player to settle in to a new team, their structure and plays.

Not even close to worth 500K based on current salary cap.
And certainly not the fourth year he wants when he'll be a 33yo backrower on 500K.

Mixed feelings about his possible signature.

Ellis and predator gone and we can easily afford him.
At least be assured the bloke isnt a lazy scab like blair.

I'd say he's worth 500k more than Blair is.

and he'd be 32 after 4 years. Only a year older than Ellis when he signed him up.

He's worth it and I bet he doesn't spend all year 'fitting into the structure'

Ellis and Lote (if not retained) would free up a lot of cash. Heighington would possibly get a tap on the shoulder, as would Utai and Humble. Reddy could go as well. We'd have plenty of cash.

Agreed.
Maybe Luke could teach Blair how to play properly and lead him.
I think youre being harsh with Utai. He has been great and deserves his place in the team, plus he is playing for peanuts anyway.
Hard to tackle and put to the ground and gets us out of our end.

as far as modern wingers go, he's a liability. Todays wingers are good leapers and tall bastards.

Utai would be awesome if he had Tuqiri's frame.
