f**k skeepe, settle.

There was no hands inbetween the legs and there was no driving motion. He lifted way to high. IMO, worth a grade 2, 3 at max. 3 weeks is lucky IMO, the headbutt should have been charged as striking to IMO. 4 or 5 would do me fine.

Let's think rationally; Hindy's involvement in the tackle will probably form part of O'Donnell's defesne. He's a cto be called out for his part in cleanskin but watch for Hindmarsh to be called out for his involvement.

TBH I never thought I'd see the day Hindmarsh gets called on the carpet for involvement in such a sickening incident.

What exactly did Hindmarsh do in the tackle? Did he lift? did he drive? I dont think so, he may have contributed to the awkward position that eventuated, but hardly the cause of it and in no way on purpose.

See, there is no reason to run in and fight because of that. So your mate got "speared". Go check if he's fine, take the penalty and move on. Instead, Sam Thiaday comes in and feels the need to start pushing and shoving. Why?

If Luke did that tackle in NRL club match followed by a head-but he would get 6-8 weeks.

He is lucky that origin seems to have different rules. He should take the 3 games and be very thankful. I can't believe the Cowboys are considering fighting the charge. I hope they do because then he will get 4 weeks (noway he can win against the charge) which is getting close to the minimum he should have got in the first place.

What would happen if a player got seriously injured (broken neck, spine injury) in a tackle like this? Would the tackler get a life suspension? I think it would come down to the who the tackler was, who got the injury and the circumstance of the tackle. The press decide the length of suspensions (For every long suspension in recent times the player has got what the Daiy Telegraph called for the day before; eg Luke O'Donnells 11 week ban when he played for the tigers) if it was a Gallen or O'Donnell type player the press would call for a life ban.

anyone saying that lod did not drive him down is clearly as blind as some of the refs you can see when he gets him to the top of the arc that he pushes his arms down as lets him go giving boyd futher momentum and speed on the way to the ground

and if that is a grade one throw what WTF is a grade 5 do you have to bring out a WWF ring and take them up to the top rope or something

this tackle just shows that they will not send players off in an Origin game

4-6 weeks for the tackle.

Nothing for the headbutt (there cannot possibly be any consequence for it)

Nothing for the punch

I can't even begin to get close to fathoming even the slightest bit of your argument.

You would sit back and let someone who just intentionally tried to do a lot of harm to one of your mates walk away from it? Turn it up! Naturally the priority should be to check if Boyd is OK, then, you need to dish out justice - because we all know the referees will never do it for you when it's a NSW player.

does the nswrl run the MRC as well?

doesnt matter what team you support o'donnel should be facing a lengthy ban. i dont want to see ANY player end up like boyd did and there's no excuse for any tackle happening like that.

we all know things are let go in origin and personally i dont care with a bit of leeway but when it's a sdangerous as that tackle there should be no leeway given to the punishment for the player involved.

Hopefully this will show the Cowboys again why he is an utter liability and means other clubs will not sign him either.

He has been an utter thug since his Tigers days and a sook to boot.

Although Dave Taylor is a little f**king bitch. He looked like he was going to cry when LOD was yelling at him

Seriously though, that was one of the worst spear tackles I have ever seen in my life. I'm absolutely astounded it wasn't at least a grade 3 or 4.

I've seen plenty of players given heftier sentences for far, far less.

Two things are obvious from the refs' inaction and the charge O'Donnell got:

  1. there is no longer a send off rule in rugby league (not in the sense it will ever get used)
  2. there is no such thing as a grade 3, 4, 5 charge.
Leaving O'Donnell on the field = joke. 3-4 weeks out for the worst spear tackle in years = joke. Match review committee = joke.

That's the 'Qld Spirit.'

That was a horrendous tackle. 3 weeks is a joke.
