It's rubbish but most death metal has it covered

LOL @ mocking a manufactured talentless popstar with another manufactured talentless popstar.

50 cent's questions song is infinitely worse than this

Ever since Simon Cowell and co manufactured popular music in the late 90s, it was always going to slide down to this low point. Hopefully this will bring the death of bubble gum pop music forever.

I'd heard all about this chick but only just heard the song when I clicked the link. It's dreadful with tricked up vocals obviously to disguise the fact that she can't actually sing!

It's awful but not much worse than most of the best selling songs these days.

It's tragic but really the way the music industries been going since the introduction of brand bands.

It was always going to happen once video clips were started.

I would blame record companies. But with the way computers are today anyone can make their own music at home. The music scene has never been stronger given the change in the power structure.

It started long before that

I hate it when people say "Music has gone to shit these days". Pop music has always been 99% shithouse. The stuff that gets played on the radio today, is just as crap as the stuff from 20-30 years ago. The whole punk movement of the 70s-80s was based on image rather than musical talent. Its nothing new.

There is still plenty of good bands going around today - you just have to look.

Oh without doubt Simmo - pop by its very nature is supposed to be crap.

But there is no doubt that the pop of today is far more generic than it was in, say, the 70s or 80s. back then there were still plenty of very good bands in the charts alongside the crap. Now it's pretty much just all crap.

So as you say, you've just got to look elsewhere for quality which isn't difficult these days either.

This song pretty much sums up the joke the music industry became. Dead Kennedys Pull My Strings

The story behind the song is awesome too, they were basically asked to perform at the Bay Music awards and told they were to be classified as New Wave band because the whole punk music scene was immature.

This was Jello's response. They start off by playing the song they were supposed to but then they stick to everyone.

Great song by a great band, one of my favourites.

I wish there was video of that performance, I'm guessing Jello took his theatrics up another level.

Punk is a political movement.

It's charm is a raw aesthetic and as such is the antithesis of over-manufactured pop music.
Very true.

As Jello says "the art of music is to provoke, if it doesn't provoke then it's not art."

Punk was a criticism against what was happening to music at the time. It had become too much about the money and letting the industry dictate what artists were producing. Punk was a return to the roots of rock n roll, when it was authentic, sincere and not dictated by commercial concerns.

A lot of punk bands even play below their capabilities to express their message and that is that music is not supposed to be synthetic and it's not all supposed to fit into the narrow expectations of the record industry.

To be honest, a large majority of new music is just as bad. They all use that autotune shit, so anybody can sound as if they can sing. Take that hide yo wife hide yo kids song as an e.g its a funny song but they turned a guy just speaking into him 'singing'. Just shows how easy it is to make anybody sound half decent. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=civOdWxd4Kc in case you haven't heard it lol)
What happened to the days when people were famous/popular for actually having a good voice...
