Honestly, Metcalf is an exciting talent. It's a bit of coup, us signing him. Cronulla weren't all that keep on letting him go. Seeing as we can't really develop our juniors, signing prospects like him and Volkman is pretty good stuff. Will be interesting to see how Johnson goes this week with Te Maire Martin.

It looks like the team this week is relatively close to what we may expect Round 1-

1- CNK
2- DWZ
3- Wiliame
4- Pompey
5- Montoya
6- TMM
7- Johnson
8- AFB
9- Egan
10- Barnett (interesting to see him at 10)
11- Ford
12- Niukore
13- Harris

Res- Walker, Afoa, Curran, Ale

Wiliame and Ford probably have a bit of work to do to establish themselves in those spots. Vailea may well be the first choice centre at this point. Also, will be interesting to see what happens once Tevaga is available. If Walker locks down that 14 spot, do we still play Jazz (of course we do) or Lussick?

After the first trial, a front row Rotation of AFB, Afoa, Ale and Barnett/Tohu doesn't seem as bad.

For the centres I would prefer Vailea take Pompey's spot.

Good news for us is that the Storm are pretty much out of the running for the $100K so might field a pretty weak side for the second trial and give us a chance of putting on another big score
Nope, plenty of their top talent in action. Last weekend Bellamy changed the team at half time removing some top talent, we can hope for that approach again. Top 2 play each other (Manly v Roosters), but just 1 needs to pull max bonus points to win.

I thought Ale went well in the trial, Plenty of work.
Why did we see so little of him last year?

I doubt $100k would be of any value to them? They'll be looking to hit the ground running for round 1, I doubt the money is even of relevance.

And would we want a big score against a bunch of reserve graders? Hardly gets us toughened for round 1, either. That would be a bit of a false dawn, to beat up a side we lost 70-10 to last year. I'd rather play their near-on best side and see where we're at, even if that is getting pumped.

100% agreed. I guess the issue is whether we allow him to thrive in this environment, and then secondly holding onto those sort of guys if they build a name for themselves and naturally want to drift back to Sydney.

Need Egan to step up, has enough experience now and I like him.

Hopefully the fullback has a good year.

TMM over Metcalf is sensible, experience, Luke is very much a first grade rookie.

Had many injuries, hopefully he plays a full year.

The backs, could you get more rocks and diamonds players....fair dinkum.

Forwards are solid, hopefully coach teaches discipline.

That is my take.

Shaun's last chance.

Egan stepped up last couple of years, how he didn't win POTY last year was a joke. So clearly the best player week in, week out. We'll be sweet if he carries on as he has.

Rocks and diamonds, absolutely in the backs but I back Webster to get the best out of them. There's definitely some talent in Kosi, Vailea, Tuiapiki etc.

Knights for a penalty try there on halftime, Young clearly grabbed before had the ball (albeit a split second before). But no one blinked an eye in bunker or commentary (Can't seem to screenshot Kayo anymore).

Manly currently left door open for us of we win and max out the tries (5), line breaks (5) and offloads(10).
Stats guys probably find an extra offload again for them overnight which will kill the chance to win preseason challenge.

Agreed with Egan, but like my team, if Brailey does not step we also ran.

Cameron Smith had heaps of good halves and fullbacks as did others, he utilised the best.

Grant is the bench mark.

Attack starts at dummy half, has no one been watching for twenty years.

Egan might have it in him.
