It's entirely about the coaching resources and quality of competition.Sup. Have to agree with you.
How much of this do you think is due to top-quality coaching in the early years?
Most Aussie clubs have a wealth of ex-NRL players turned to coaching available. Here we don't have the same skills. Many junior clubs here have well-meaning but inexperienced coaches and the full skill set is not put in place early enough.
Many of the skill must be put in place early so they become instinctive.
I played here through school level then in Australia ( Sydney ) at school level , the experience was universes apart.
I only wish I had played top level Union here at the same age to make a comparison.
Forty years ago the Aussie school boy level was starting to build a semi professional mind set in some of the Big schools.
Thirty years ago it was a Semi Pro mindset.
Now it would be elite I'd imagine, keeping pace with the institute of sports philosophies.
Anyone who has played School boys in Aus at a high level will tell you that a play maker knows the set plays by the time they are 15 that we are introducing only now post Matt Elliot to our junior talent.
