The fact of the matter is that we are a soft team and have been for years - and thats the fault of the management. Blame the management !!! The coaches, the trainers, the board members. If the officials at Parra accept what they are getting from the team then the team will deliver - its only human.

The players can talk it up as much as they like but the opposition players have heard it all before. Oh no - not the parramatta forwards ......
Soft to the core. you think we do it tough at home, can you imagine someone who really gave his all like Ray Price sitting there watching this bunch of pansys play ?

We as fans can see when players arnt giving their all - dont you think that ex players like pricey can ?

The differnence between the bronco players and the eels players is that the broncos expect that they will win whilst the parra players hope they will.

I'm trying to find a reason to argue your point and the moment I can't..

Yep, but unfortunately that attitude only comes with winning. It's a vicious circle - if you keep losing then you don't think you can win, so you keep losing. Once you win at the highest level you know you can do it. That attitude spreads to all the new guys too.

Look at the Aussie cricket culture - it was in the doldrums for ages but once they started winning they just got better and better, and their winning attitude just grew and grew. Now it's at a point where all the new guys seem like giant-killers as well, and the other nations expect us to whip them, so we do.

It's happened to Parra before - we were the losers for years and bridesmaids in the 70s. And then Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead and all of a sudden we win 4 out of 6, and Sterlo even said that they couldn't believe it in 84 when they lost, and were even more stunned in 85 when they didn't make the GF. That's how much they expected it, they said it felt like someone had taken away something that was rightfully theirs. As you say, they EXPECTED to win.

and I've said this countless times this year....to me a certain culture has been developed at our club, and it's obviously going to take more than a new coach to fix it.

well I've never said that a new coach would mean an end to our problems but I do agree ww have a culture that needs to be changed.

TBH, I think, having a new coach, has shown how ingrained some of our problems are, and I am greatly concerned by Hagans decision NOT to look outside the club for next years roster

It only takes one bloke to fix it, but it's not the coach.

Look at what Kennedy brought to Manly.

Bellamy says that Crocker brings the same to Melbourne - just his attitude at training and in the sheds before big games. Gould used to pick players for SOO that the fans didn't like, but he knew the other players wanted them there. Alex Ferguson says that the Man United players would look at Eric Cantona in the sheds and be invigorated - that his aura made them feel positive.

Funnily enough most of the players that League coaches talk about it in this way aren't outside backs, or even halves - they are forwards.

We need our own Ben Kennedy (ugghh I feel dirty just thinking that).

 You said it in this thread as I was typing my post!! Look above!

I think I said somewhere yesterday that at the start of the year both Cayless and Hindy were saying that they were playing better because they were out of their comfort zone with the new coach. Now it seems that Hagan has fallen in with the status quo - picking the veterans even if it means having a million backrowers in the squad and only one bench prop.

It seems that a lot of players we have resigned have 'clocked off'. I cant understand why it is so difficult for this club to steal themselves for the games that matter.

Piss off Price. We are still in the top 8, i can understand if we were last or even out of the 8.

we may still be in the top 8 [only just] but we're still cannon fodder for Melbourne, Manly and the Warriors.

Not through a lack of talent though. It's a lack of heart and grit.

Whos to say? Finals footy is a new competition.

Are you serious???
Price, an absolute club legend who NEVER gave up suggested that the current crop of players dont have heart and guts - he didnt say they dont have talent.

Yes, finals footy is whole new competition and the preceding 25 rounds are the trials that get you ready for this new competition and decide whether you enter it with confidence, energy and having instilled a level of fear in the hearts and minds of your opposition.

Parramatta has gone from "sh*t, hope we dont play Parra" in the minds of the other 7 finalists to "sh*t, hope we can play Parra" in the course of the last 7 weeks.

Because of our attitude in losing to Newcastle, Sharks and St George, if we enter this new comp at all, we do so in a knock-out position instead of with a second chance. Is this your preferred place to be?

PS: You may want to amend the first entry in your signature until 4.30pm on Sunday dude.

.

My concern with that philosphy is that what you do becomes habit. Winning and turning up every week becomes a habit. At the same time, doing the opposite throughout the season can also become 'habit'

I just dont think you can expect to rock up in the semi finals and play the 3 or 4 high quality, intense games back to back to win the comp if you havent demonstrated you can do that in the season.

Also, Ray Price can say whatever the hell he likes about our club. The man bleeds Parramatta, and unlike some other so called club legends, I'm not aware of Pricey ever being in the employment of another club.
