Sorry EF01, you are on your own on this one.

A Brief Story.

After the Melbourne game I was out the back and shook the hands of the players as they went past. DK had a chat with me, he asked what I though, I said, great effort, Poor Execution and Stupid Mistakes.

So I called Ovo last week and he told me CC had blown him up, about what I said and some of the players heard it and were upset.

On Monday night sitting up in the grand stand, with my head on the railing, I said to my Mother "Tell me I was wrong about the effort / execution thing"(this was when we were down 12 - 0). She told me she couldn't.

This bunch are in f**king denial. They aren't fired up, they don't get fired up. If they were fired up against Melbourne they would have won. The same can be said for many other games, and if they lead at half time, they don't go in for the kill.

You can't win a comp by being half arsed. So that I think that they will still have people trying to get them ready. But then again Look at south side Story last week. JT Said to his players afterwards, Yes Be disappointed, but then get over it as we have to play again next week.
Gee the players we're upset, what about us fans watching their crap week in week out. As i said, they can't cop any criticism . Some constructive criticism never hurt anybody.

Thats they're whole problem, it doesn't hurt them enough when they lose. Instead of being upset about a tough loss in which they should have won they have a cry in something that Mits has said which was spot on. If the players had half as much passion as the people on this board we wouldn't be talking about this.

MITS' story was prompted by me PM'ing him telling him that we aren't in this comp to our eye teeth.... :(

And I have no reason whatsoever to doubt his word which makes it all the more sad.

If they were upset by what he said to DK then they are a bunch of primadonnas.

MITS, CC and the players in question owe you an apology.

I often disagree with your take on things. I think, if anything, you are too close to the administration to be critical on some issues.

But no one in the world could question your loyalty to the club, or that you have its best interests at heart.

Any professional sportsman would get their back up if you questioned their effort. You didn't do that. You questioned their execution; and in a game which they lost after gifting two tries and bombing at least one - that is an objective fact.

For them to be offended by that statement - said openly to a direct question, and fairly on the facts - shows how pampered and above criticism they are.

No one in this entire team steps up and takes responsibility for winning the game - whether leading or behind.

I think you would be pretty accurate in actually questioning the effort as well as the execution.

I agree with you and others that that story reveals an enormous amount about their attitude and why we haven't won an important game for a long time.

Seriously, I would like to ask why they disagreed with your statement - did they think their execution was good? Or did they they think the mistakes were intelligent? LOL.

half the team wouldn't even know who he was. to have pride you need to remember those whom bled before you. our club seems to block out the past (players incl). The club lacks pride amongst a lot of other things.

Ladies & gentlemen Ray Price is Parramatta. Virtually all the great memories of finals victories have included this GREATEST OF ALL EELS PLAYERS. Victories that you felt in your bones that we could go all the way and win it. It is of no coincidence that when he arrived to the club we made our first grand final, and in his final year we won our last grand final.

Even when we made the GF in 2001, I knew deep down we were long odds to win it no matter how many records we broke that year. To score as many points as we did in that year was NOT the great achievement that some make it to be. The rules were changed to allow that to happen.

No my feeling was that we didn't have a true mongrel/enforcer like B. Kennedy or a true champion play maker like A. Johns in our team. They're the type of players that win GF's. We had a very young team and J. Taylor who had on many previous occasions in his career proven that he could not hack it in the big pressure cooker that is finals football.

This team has copious amounts of talent. It is embarrassingly talented. Yet they keep producing crap way to often to be of any real threat of winning a premiership.

What we have lacked is a R. Price style of player to fire them up for the total 80 mins of play and be switched on all week preparing for the game. Dare I say it, if he was in our team now for one T. Smith would have learnt to run with the ball or made to eat it, and we would be holding the trophy up high come GF day no fear.

Nathan is every bit the player Pricey was but he does not have a Sterling, Kenny, Ella, Cronin, Grothe snr helping out.

Nathan's nowhere near as aggro as Pricey was.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the team needs balance in leadership. Crow was Pricey's balance.

MITS, maybe you should take a copy of this thread and read it to the players pre game maybe it will fire them up, if it don't they ain't got no heart.

I agree with Ray Price 100%. I've said it before in my posts the players in this club are not tough mentally. They lack mongrel and the killer instinct

I have watched Ray Price on videos and DVD's and the guy is a legend. He can say whatever he wants as he has earned the right to say what he wants and when he wants. No one in the current team has the mongrel, mental toughness and never say die attitude that Price had.Yes most of the players in the current team are girls. Near enough is not good enough. Can someone please clone Ray Price

We seemed to find the hunger and effort and commitment to the jersey and turned in a sterling (...sorry) performance mid-season against the Tigers, when they were better fancied chances than us.

If ever there was a time to bottle whatever made that happen and bring it out again, it's this weekend... Let's hope all the talk coming from the camp means that they're getting focussed for one of those efforts - or more to the point five of those in a row! Otherwise, it's just another season where we made the semis but didn't scare anyone.

I don't. Viewing Sunday's game as a chance of missing out on the 8 is a defeatest attitude.

I'd much prefer them to view Sunday's game as a chance to make the Top 4, thus viewing it as a positive situation.

Cowards and the weak fight for survival. Champions fight for glory. I know which I'd prefer to be fighting for.

Mondays game was that, and they choked. So obviously not the motivation they need. I honestly don't understand a first grade player, why would you need motivation when you have a bundle of ppl behind you wanting success so badly. If they don't wanna succeed for themselves then do it for us.

I am with the rest of you. Monday night hurt - if we weren't motivated then (top 4 spot on offer) when will we get motivated? I will try to be an optimisit though, I still hope that we can do something in the finals.

I would like to reiterate Fish Eels' point about not recruiting from other clubs for next year. If anyone feels that next season will be any different (some great wins to get you excited, but a LOT of shocking performances) then you have rocks in your head.

Good sides always bring in some fresh blood and aim to keep the place fresh. I feel Parra is stale - yes we finally got rid of the Brian Smith last year, but it will take many years for a true change of culture to occur. IMO we should have really gone after a Luke O'Donnell, I for one wouldn't mind if that meant losing one or more of Daniel Wagon, Junior Paulo, Chad Robinson or Weller Hauraki.

I don't care if he was better than Andrew Johns, he shouldn't be putting sh*t on the players every time we lose a couple of games.

Well then Knob, you obviously have a character defect if you don't care what legends like Pricey have to say about the way the team is playing, and yet admire and credit the deeds which are followed by feeble statements, of our underachieving so called star team.

Oh, and if a typo attack is the best you can do, I was right you are a KNOB!!!

Yes I do agree Nathan is a great player, but Pricey was also a great player with the ball as well as defensively. Besides part of what made Pricey so special was his attitude all round, something I have never seen before or since. Some players have it in part, but he had/has it in spades. Rest assured though I would never bag out Nathan. :)
