Most kids growing up don't get pissed and go on a rampage.

Most kids arent told specifically to behave themselves only hours before they went on a rampage.

Most kids don't agree to a curfew then break it.

And I'd hardly consider them kids. One of the blokes was 29, one was 26, three were 24, five were 23, one 22 and the bloke that was sacked was 20.

Seems the media has brainwashed you. Rampage. Good word. Do a search on yahoo on rampage today & count the hits on knights.

I have never heard of a curfew that has not been broken. Even when lives are at stake.

Merely using the language of the day and if you think that the players are entitled to behave that way then so be it.

They may not have asked to be role models but that's what they become when they play in the NRL.

They are role models.
Like it or not, its what they do.
they cant all be ET's.
They cant all be Willies.

Like rock bands, to be relevant the fans have to see in them , what they can't be. They need to appear to have the lifestyle, the women, the party hard personas.

Christ I loved ET, but I'd hate to think of how boring it would all be now if everyplayer was like him.

If someone told me you could $250,000 a year to play football if you gave up booze I wouldn't even think twice.

They make ridiculous ammounts of money to play football , There not Policemen , Firemen , Doctors , Nurses Etc .. They don't put there life on the line when they go to work.

They should all pull there heads in.

So they are all on elite not money huh?
Geezus then thats the problem & probably why the Sharks have few problems.
See the majority of our players are on less than 80k before tax.
& yeah you are right, they dont put their lives on the line, as few have been killed.
they just put their health on the line.

I don't believe you can ban alcohol - their are too many temptations out of hours, both at home and away.

I do believe that the Clubs (and if that does work) the NRL have to impose a point system similar to the on fields behaviour.

e.g. You break an code of conduct away curfew X number Pt's etc.

These points are tied to their on field behaviour.

When players start getting suspended for incidents off the field as well as on the field then the clubs AND the players will start taking notice.

Cash fines don't work on the higher paid players.

If the code of conduct is real it needs to have some legs - otherwise don't bother. It must become a definite set of rules - it is a professional sport. If this was a excursion conducted by a commercial organisation then all of these jokers would be either fired or on their 3rd warning.

Get serious about an enforceable code of conduct and implement it NOW!

I actually agree with KFC.

A total abstinance of alcohol for every player registered with the N.R.L. from the trial rounds, right until the Ref blows the full-time whistle on Grand Final Night.

Works for A.F.L. why not for us?

Pantherjim.

So Fraser Gehrig wasn't intoxicated when he urinated on those bar patrons last year?

Those Swans Players at the Clovelly Hotel who trashed some toilets and headbutted the courtesy van weren't intoxicated either?

Prohibition won't work...

Now that's an idea that's got legs.

How would all of you people that are whinging about banning this and that feel if the government took away your free right to masturbate, or your free right to drive whatever car you want (provided its roadworthy) or they took away your choice of hair colour and shoes, you can not take away people's rights, its immoral, and its down right f**king stupid, and while the alcohol might have had a small part in the incident, it certainly wasn't the cause of the incident, remember, the players themselves are responsible for their own actions not alcohol, so why take away everyone elses right to drink what they want because of a few idiots, you alcohol ban followers should be f**king ashamed of yourselves, idiots.

I am neither ashamed or an idiot. I'm not the one that got pissed and brought great shame on our game.

How is the game shamed?

the problem is, the entire story isnt told.

The stories of the girls who are taking footy players 2 at a time with grins as big as luna park on their faces, is never told.

the story of how manay times these guys phones ring getting hunted up by groupie lowies, never told.

Why aren't the stories about the 2 girls who were happy at bathurst being told?

they should of known better, especially as a group,,, ive gotten so drunk I cant remember anything more then I should of and Im fairly sure me or none of my mates have gotten close to doing a similar thing..... they still must think they are untouchable to try this in a female dorm and that the chicks inside all must want them. the nrl has more work to do on changing players attitudes, but banning alchohol period is not the answer. there are plenty of responsible players in the nrl who should not have to suffer but for the incredibly foolish actions of a few

Because those stories don't make the 6 o'clock news.

Those stories don't sell newspapers.

Those stories don't get radio personalities frothing at the mouth.

You are right in what you say blacktip-reefy but our game has been shamed.

Sport is a business in this day and age and we have AFL and Rugby competing for the same sponsorship dollar we are.

Episodes like this one paint league in a bad light, even you would have to admit that.

the only attitude to change is that they are not to be normal.

for fugg sake I used to climb resorts balconies & go door knocking in the hope of getting lucky. Me & 10,000 others on holidays.
I hada about 10% strike rate. But that is higher than if I had not have gone.

Has anyone not heardof schoolies.??

MY FUGGEN God!! How is it that relatively few sexual assualts happen there? I I can tell you right now, bad shit goes on up there.

You are an individual.

You don't represent a team or a code.

Millions of dollars are not in jeopardy because of your behavior.

The only person you shame is yourself.

When professsional sportsmen do it, it has far reaching effects.
