Nice to see something about this Alien "prequel". I remember hearing about this when the last AVP was out and they also discussed the Predators movie that Rodrigues did!

I love the first two but I'm also partial to Resurrection. The 3rd one I can take or leave...

There is still debate as to whether it is actually an alien prequel. All signs point to yes but there is no hard evidence if it is or not.

Any movie that has Mark Ruffalo as the hulk is destined to be full of fail. You may as well say GI Joe 2 is the most anticipated film of 2012 (mind you they do seem to have a good quotient of ninjas, so it can't be all bad).

The hobbit, well if it's anything like Jacksons work since LotR, it too could completely suck. The trailers don't look like anything special just yet.

Prometheus has a pretty good cast, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

... Then obviously the other mentioned films in this thread. It's a throw-away line, there are many films that's releases are keenly awaited by many fans.

Most science fiction fans would say prometheus is the movie they're most looking forward to.

Agree to disagree on the hobbit trailer though, it didn't show anything... You could have literally cut up about 10 scenes from the LotR trilogy and swapped them in. Peter Jackson hasn't had a good track record since he stopped working on LotR, so hopefully he doesn't butcher the legacy that those movies created.

Fair enough but I think the three that I mentioned have had the most attention so far.

The hobbit trailer showed a lot of scenes from the Hobbit that could never be in Lord of the Rings. First off the Dwarves, obviously. It shows Gandalf with Galadriel which tells us it will show Gandalf's journeys that weren't in the book. It shows young Bilbo. It shows Bilbo finding the ring and Gollum finding Bilbo. The production videos show a lot more of the film and it's making as well.

Peter Jackson has made one poor film since Lord of the Rings. I thought King Kong was quite good and the films he has produced, District 9 and TinTin, were well received. So I have to disagree on criticism of him.

I read that it started out as a prequal, but eventually developed into its own story, so isn't really connected to the alien franchise at all

I liked The Hobbit a lot better than the Lord of the Rings, but I have a feeling LOTR will make a better movie than The Hobbit. More action in LOTR, and The Hobbit has a very friendly vibe to it, not like the intensity of "holy shit get that f**king ring to mount doom or we are f**kED!"

I actually hadn't heard of Prometheus until recently, seen no trailers or anything at the movies. Unless this is the same movie I heard talk of a few years ago of Scott wanting to do an Aliens prequel that just got a bit changed? It does look good.

Really? Have you seen Iron Man 2, Thor or Captain America. All of them were frigging terrible.

I'll go see it, but I certainly have low expectations for it. It's certainly not a 'must see', and certainly not too anticipated in my book. I'm sure it'll be better than GI Joe, but I'm not under any illusion that it won't be style over substance.
