Another movie that looks unimpressive in 3D.

On a side note, how did anyone find the Hunger Games anything but a steaming pile of boring shit?

I suppose its tough for me to know how to interpret just the movie, having read the books before seeing it so it is far too easy to flesh out the parts they sort of gloss over in the movie with the background the book gives you.

In the books Katniss is indeed still written as the one you want to win, although she is a much darker character. The build up of her home life, the oppression of the capital and the barbaric nature of the games is much more apparent in the book, thats for sure.

Really I would recommend reading the book series before seeing the rest of the movies. IMO they are really made with an expectation that you've read the books and thus know what they are talking about without having to explain it in too much detail

As I expected. The books do sound like they give the subject the appropriate treatment then.

Any movie that has Mark Ruffalo as the hulk is destined to be full of fail. You may as well say GI Joe 2 is the most anticipated film of 2012 (mind you they do seem to have a good quotient of ninjas, so it can't be all bad).

The hobbit, well if it's anything like Jacksons work since LotR, it too could completely suck. The trailers don't look like anything special just yet.

Prometheus has a pretty good cast, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Mark Ruffalo was top notch imo.

You could ramble off a massive list of 'most anticipated'...

Hunger games
The great gatsby
The amazing spiderman
The bourne legacy
World War Z
Men in Black 3

... Then obviously the other mentioned films in this thread. It's a throw-away line, there are many films that's releases are keenly awaited by many fans.

Most science fiction fans would say prometheus is the movie they're most looking forward to.

Agree to disagree on the hobbit trailer though, it didn't show anything... You could have literally cut up about 10 scenes from the LotR trilogy and swapped them in. Peter Jackson hasn't had a good track record since he stopped working on LotR, so hopefully he doesn't butcher the legacy that those movies created.

Agreed.

And I am really worried about The Hobbit. I don't want it to be a let down, but the bar is set so high and the expectations are massive.

Mark Ruffalo was top notch imo.

I thought he was better than Norton I thought. The Avengers lived up to the hype and delivered exactly what it promised.

I think the Hobbit trailer's great, but the report about the picture looking crappy did worry me. I'm hoping people only compare it to the books and not stack it up against the trilogy, it's a very different story. I'm worried but still think it will be awesome. Firey's comments about the trailer and Jackson's record aren't true either way.

This is not my most anticipated film, it's my only anticipated film. Hollywood is f**king shit these days, television is where it is at.

***SPOILER**

watched it yesterday - why are the characters so naieve?! i mean, that whats i kept thinking throughout the film.... and when they died, I was like, yeah go the monsters and kill those morons....

Maybe it was ironic, but the only character I felt any compassion for was David, the android...

I also didnt get the ending... why were there so many spaceships on the planet? had they all been attacked by Aliens? and I thought the Aliens were weapons that they conjured up, which they wanted to use as weapon against earth?

a little to complex for my liking...

Saw it last night, really enjoyed it but then im a bit of an alien geek.

Aragorn - I wasnt a fan of the ending either, the girl should have died imo. And i dont understand the space jockey dieing in the lab room when in Alien you clearly see a hole in its chest while he is sitting in the chair of the ship. Also the alien which burst out looked geniused.

I saw it yesterday the Aliens are the bio mechanical organism that these Alien Humanoids created, Like the bloke said in the film weapons of mass destruction...kind of like Humans on earth created the ebola virus. Also these Alien Humanoids have the power to create and exterminate worlds using the that black substance, Thus what we see at the beginning of the film were the huge Humanoid drinks the vile and desintegrates and thus creating new life, Also the events of this film does not really explain what happened on LV426 were we get to see the space jockey in the first Alien film....Prometheus landed on LV223.

Actually you are right Zod, i hadnt realised its an entirely different planet from Aliens.. which means another engineer ship went down in similar fashion. For supposed 'gods' these guys sure f*ck up a lot lol

*edit*

After doing some searching came across this

Having listened to an interview with Ridley Scott, this film was never intended to be a direct prequel to Alien. Only insomuch as it exists in the same universe as the original film.
It is intended to be the first in a trilogy of films preceding the original Alien film and only really attempts to answer the question of “who is the Space Jockey?”

http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/kermode
Now it makes sense and im fine with it, looking forward to the sequels

Who knows whether Dr Shaw had anything to do with the events of LV426, remember she flew with one of the Humanoid ships to some planet.
