We can analyze the last two games ad nauseum but in general, all fans want is for their team to be competitive and never give up.
That's what we witnessed last night.
I thought the game against the Broncos was a wonderful surprise that was built on gritty defence and huge games by Sims, the rest of our forwards and some of our young replacements - Lomax and Lawrie in particular.
Against Souths, we defended wonderfully well and I have to mention Lomax (again) and Periera in particular who had stellar defensive games under enormous pressure.
Reynolds targeted Periera all day and he just stood tall, bomb after bomb.
He also diffused many critical situations.
Lomax handled a rampant and in form Inglis with aplomb. His scramble and cover defence was superb.
Unfortunately, he got very few opportunities with ball in hand.
At the end of the day we can only lament about our lack of game management and inability to close out tight games.
Reynolds showed us how it's done.
This has been a recurring theme for years now and is still our Achilles heel.
We can now turn our attention to 2019 with a great deal of optimism.
A talented forward pack and an upgraded three quarter line.
Unfortunately, it seems that we will be stuck with McGregor's coaching philosophy for yet another season.
A coach that has shown very little improvement since he was first appointed IMO.
The press conference after the Souths game was hard to swallow considering how happy McGregor was with the Team's foray into the finals and a commendable exit in week 2.
I cannot of think of even one of the top liners being happy with such an outcome and the way it unfolded.
SAINTS FOREVER!

For me I was glad to see Lomax and Jordan P coming through and cementing first grade spots. Blake Laurie is another that he showing his potential. LAM is going to be missed but Sims is a handy acquisition. I have been watching him and he plays big minutes and aggression.
Widdop and Vaughan out hurt us and Mary said there were a few players playing last night with needles.
I suppose we say every year we should have learnt from each season. But, I have not seen any hint that he has corrected the situation with SOO and players playing not at 100%:
I think Dufty will improve again next season so we have three youngsters playing first grade which is a big thing.
There are a few ISP players that can put pressure on the first graders. After watching Field play fullback in the ISP today. He was terrible.
So I will be hopeful of a better finals campaign. But there is work to do

Like every one I’m disappointed but proud but please don’t forget the footie gods, we had them in Brisbane last week but not against the bunnies. We criticise from the sideline with no pressure , the boys did very well, they will learn. Next year hopefully Vaughan and Widdop are there plus the footie gods and we get a disfferent result.

Kick the ball
5th tackle
It doesn’t need footy gods to do that
Just needs common sense and a level head

Do or anyone else know, if praying to the Footy Gods works? Maybe we need faith?

Hunt is the journo's new whipping boy...There are a number of articles having a go at him...we as fans should be supporting the guy ..It is a team sport....

There were other critical errors in the game..

1/. Leilua's missed tackle on Crichton which lead to the Souths try
2/. Au Mau being stripped..lead directly to a field goal
3/. The penalty against McInnes...changed the momentum

None of the Journos mention any of the above...

Games over...lets just be proud of the effort from our guys.

We can be proud of the effort and still critique what occurred.
Looking at reasons why and learning from poor decisions is what good teams do.
For Peter Sterling to come out and say it was a terrible decision to attempt that last play, then Ben Hunt can listen and learn.
The above 3 errors you list did happen, errors are part of any game.

There is a big difference between an error .....and a poor decision.
For a play maker to call the play Hunt did was not an error, it was a decision.
A dumb one.
Hunt can cop the plaudits and the criticism, it’s part and parcel of earning a million a year.
He is not a whipping boy, the press actually go easy on him.
I would say someone like Fifita from the sharks is a whipping boy,

Someone posted somewhere that our last three losses in finals were all by one point.
There was no one in our side that had ever kicked a field goal. I am not sure whether Widdop has kicked one but we need to address that next season and give Hunt and Widdop some practice.

The first 2 were poor decisions.

The first is a poor decision in defence. Pretty obvious.

The second was a poor decision in ball security. He had a choice to make - hold it in 2 and secure it, or hold it in 1 and risk it getting stripped. He chose..... poorly.

Hewi, geez
Sure it is, but we aren’t under pressure, they were.
Hewi, geeze, they do it every game, every 5th tackle.
They are paid big bucks to do it.
Under pressure just to put a kick in?
If they can’t manage the basics, they need to go play Park football.

It could only happen to us, and a Mary coached team.
It was nothing but poor play.
Even kids in under 15s do it.
