We can analyze the last two games ad nauseum but in general, all fans want is for their team to be competitive and never give up.
That's what we witnessed last night.
I thought the game against the Broncos was a wonderful surprise that was built on gritty defence and huge games by Sims, the rest of our forwards and some of our young replacements - Lomax and Lawrie in particular.
Against Souths, we defended wonderfully well and I have to mention Lomax (again) and Periera in particular who had stellar defensive games under enormous pressure.
Reynolds targeted Periera all day and he just stood tall, bomb after bomb.
He also diffused many critical situations.
Lomax handled a rampant and in form Inglis with aplomb. His scramble and cover defence was superb.
Unfortunately, he got very few opportunities with ball in hand.
At the end of the day we can only lament about our lack of game management and inability to close out tight games.
Reynolds showed us how it's done.
This has been a recurring theme for years now and is still our Achilles heel.
We can now turn our attention to 2019 with a great deal of optimism.
A talented forward pack and an upgraded three quarter line.
Unfortunately, it seems that we will be stuck with McGregor's coaching philosophy for yet another season.
A coach that has shown very little improvement since he was first appointed IMO.
The press conference after the Souths game was hard to swallow considering how happy McGregor was with the Team's foray into the finals and a commendable exit in week 2.
I cannot of think of even one of the top liners being happy with such an outcome and the way it unfolded.
SAINTS FOREVER!
