Just checked the date on my pre-order receipt, June 14th.

I'm in, baby. Watch out for the racketeer merkins on eBay flogging their PS4's for 50% more.

Was on the JB Hi Fi website looking for a dvd when I stumbled across an ad on their website saying that they will be receiving an extra batch of PS4's before this Christmas, limited stock etc etc. So if anyone is chasing one before the new year might do well to have a look.

Watch out for the racketeer merkins on eBay flogging their PS4's for 50% more.

I've seen people advertising PS4's on ebay for $1000 and $1500!

Unfortunately the only way I would buy a PS4 on ore-order is if they announced it was backward compatible. I've got too many unfinished (and unstarted) PS3 games to even think about getting a PS4. I will however buy one when I have finished my pile of shame, and the PS4 hopefully comes bundled with a few games somewhere down the track.

I wouldn't bother with a preorder now. Id try and pick it up in store, seeing as most preorders wont come through until the new year ( besides jb hifi).

I don't want to take chances, for better or worse I pre-ordered it two days ago. Hilariously, I've been vindicated in my choice of PS4 over Xbox One even more by the recent "resolution war" news....

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-resolutiongate-the-fallout

While Digital Foundry has yet to see either next-gen version of Call of Duty, our experience with Battlefield 4 demonstrates that you can easily see the visual difference between them. The Xbox One version holds up well given the gulf in resolution, but it doesn't require a pixel counter to tell that the PS4 game is crisper and cleaner either. At last week's Battlefield 4 review event in Stockholm, we noted that the resolution change from one version to the next was obvious to many of the press in attendance, with some even suggesting on-site that the PS4 version was operating at native 1080p when its actual resolution was 1600x900.
The reality for Microsoft is that the raw spec differential it has battled against is not only borne out in what is arguably the most technologically advanced multi-platform game of the next-gen launch, but the gulf actually increases on a title that, on the face of it, isn't pushing boundaries to anything like the same degree.
However, the hardware make-up itself could be more troublesome for multi-platform developers in the longer term, despite Microsoft's outline of how the Xbox One tech operates and the theoretical advantages it chose to highlight. In our In Theory piece, we could only address the teraflop difference - we couldn't measure the impact of Xbox One's reduction in memory bandwidth, and we certainly couldn't factor in what was then the big unknown: the controversial 32MB of Embedded Static RAM (ESRAM) built into the Xbox One's central processor.

Add to this with Call of Duty Ghosts running at 1080p native and 60fps on the PS4, but only 720p native and 60fps on the Xbox One - but the One even has a lower average frame-rate! Seems pretty clear now which console is going to have the big hardware edge. Pretty sad they can't run f**king Call of Duty at 1080p 60fps, while the PS4 has this at 1080 60fps (in multiplayer, which is what is shown below);

I thought I'd ask you guys on a few things,

I'll be buying the Ps4, but as it releases on 29/11/13, compared to the US which is something like 15/11/13, I thought it would be cheaper to buy accessories, games and etc online.

Looking at getting an extra controller and a few games. Anyone recommend a few sites that send out to AUS and also have quick delivery times?

I thought Amazon, but for some reason some items they won't ship here.

Just comparing prices, if I were to buy approx 5 games in AUS (FIFA, NBA, BF4, AC4 and possibly Madden) that would set me back approx $500, then on top an extra controller which is retailing for $100. Comparing prices overseas, I will spend approx $300-$350 (Amazon prices).

I picked up The Last of Us from www.ozgameshop.com for $55 so that might be an option but I think they are a UK based store so they might not launch until the same time here as Australia.

Another option might be www.playasia.com

I have purchased a few US games from there over the years and have had no dramas shipping to Australia

That $300 is better in your pocket then the pocket of a retailer

I'm same as Jargan, had no problem getting PS3 games from Amazon (got Lego Marvel Superheroes last week boo-yeah) don't know why PS4 would be any different.

Maybe once the PS4 is actually released over here you'll be able to get them.

I've had similar dramas with buying sunglasses from Amazon

Apparently not all retailers that list stuff on Amazon will ship to Australia
