I've been searching all over for any pics, video of match reports of this game and can't find ANY. Does anyone have any leads? I know video is probably unlikely, but even a few photos would be great...

Thanks Parra!! That's brilliant!

I wish the current PSG (soccer) administration would re-start the team. I don't believe we will see them again in Super League any time soon, but I don't see why they can't get a decent Elite team back in up there...

we talk about the great missed opportunities in RL?

Perth, Adelaide, London.. Paris is top of the list for me

Melbourne, Paris and London all have their own big sports and all over the years have supported International Rugby League, sadly (outside Melbourne recently with the Storm) the club game was never a big thing. Even in the other Rugby code it's the same in these cities, club crowds underwhelming whilst Internationals well supported.

They have their soccer and afl that grabs them week in week out which is fair enough, the people have voted. Doesn't mean other sports shouldn't try and get a bit of the action, just have to fight harder for it.

Cant really help you with anything you have asked Parra but I remember watching this game at my mates house on the TV (he had sky tv and we didnt in those days) we were all about 15 drinking cheap lager and shaving our heads. Happy, nostalgic days.

I tend to agree with you Parra but I'm of the opinion that if these kinds of cities are strategically important for our game, then we need to invest and see it through to success.

Look at Perth. When they disintegrated they actually had more members than the Broncos and something like the 3rd highest corporate sponsorship portfolio.. I forget the actual figures.

The thing about Paris is that we had the chance to affiliate with one of the biggest names in world sport and let it go.

To close off this thread - I went to my parents place on the weekend and searched for my old VHS of the PSG - Sheffield game and its gone..
considering some of the crap they hang onto, I was thinking a 20 year old tape from an outdated system may still be in safe keeping, but no.

Thanks for trying, there's surprisingly a lot of their matches on youtube that I managed to find.

In doing so, I stumbled on this interesting video, where they announced the formation of Super League: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZjkiIF1Ba4

Very interesting, especially now looking back knowing how it all panned out (with Paris and the joint venture clubs etc.) Also, i never knew that Wigan were so dominant for that decade beforehand.

Thanks for sharing. It would be interesting to find out who got PSG interested in entering Super League. Considering prior to BSkyB putting forward a significant increase in broadcast revenue the club hadn't publicly shown any interest in forming an RL team, was it a case that Sky reached out and put forward a sweetner? Or were there other things at play? (Ie. FFRXIII was having chats and it was just coincidental that SL also was kicking off)

If RL is to ever significantly grow in continental Europe we want to get into these omni-sport clubs so we can leverage their brands, fan base, exposure and infastructure to give RL as much chance to kick on.

Considering PSG is the most high profile omni-sport club we've ever gotten into it would be worth understanding the whole backstory with the formation... there is enough info around as to why it failed.
