How the f**k the English have convinced themselves that this load of shyte is true is beyond belief. FACE IT, wayne rooney has a long history of losing his temper and doing stupid things. Carvalho was fouling him at the time no doubt, but no way does that justify being stomped in the nuts.

Bumble if you seriously think think it was accidental and he had no choice but to dance on his family jewels then you need your head read. Are you insane. What do you mean how could he. He fell back onto Carvalho and decided to give him one for.

If there is anyone who should be p*ssed about all of this it should be Beckham. When he lost his cool in 98 the country wanted to lynch him and now in 06 Rooney does the same and gets off scott free and Beckham gets to be the losing captain.

I do not see it as clear cut. You refer to the Beckham incident, which shows the English are not as blinkered as you imply. Furthermore, having been on the phone to Germany last night, they seem if anything more clear that Portugal were a bunch of cheating so and sos, hence the booing of Ronaldo et al last night.

Well Portugal, and especially Ronaldo, do like to take a dive which is the reason why they are getting the boos. No one wants to see that.

I just feel for Beckham, gotta be a first for everything, becuase in both incidences Rooney and beckham lashed out after being fouled themselves, got sent off and the team crashed out. But because Rooney is seen as some kind of god no one questions his role, only Ronaldo who had the hyde to protest.

The English public hammered Beckham from pilar to post whereas they want to conviniently forget about Rooney and just pin it all on Ronaldo. And to cap it off Beckham gets penalised again this time as the captain when the team loses.

I also see that Fifa are considering a 5 match international ban for Rooney which is spot on.

Lets summarise a bit...

So far they've whinged about:

- The ref
- The heat
- Ronaldo
- The coach

What else boys?

- Beckham should've retired earlier?
- England didn't face tough opposition in the 2nd round, so they didn't have the preparation that portugal did?

We were robbed!

I do not know why the thread is still going? Are you lads not an independent country yet?

Mate, we are very similar; take a look at the Italy thread.

Wrong. Unlike the Italy thread (and the Japan, Brazil and Croatia ones for that matter) this thread hasnt contained 600 odd posts of whinging. And there havent been about 50 extra whinging threads with titles like, "Portugal are scum, FIFA stands for f**king Incompetent f**king Arseholes" etc.

Hard to argue with that actually.

Some of the reactions to the Italy game were disgusting. You can tell alot of people in this country have never watched a game of football in their life before this WC.

Possibly just not used to losing international matches. Soccer tends to be heart breaking, being brought up in England we are merely more used to it.

There has been plenty of people saying that many of the matches this World Cup were really dull, which was predicted in When Saturday Comes; an excellent soccer magazine.

I pointed out that although most people will say they support a team, only a small minority regularly sit through a full ninety minute game. Most settle for the highlights, unless it is an important game for their team. As a consequence, although they say they are soccer fans, they are not that keen on the sport, but do not realize.

The point of that waffle, is that even in England, people are not as into soccer as they consider themselves.

Indeed, the problems soccer has, and English soccer in particular has had, mean that getting stroppy in a messageboard is one of the more harmless ways of letting off steam.

he doesnt, but whenever a big "incident" occours, most players run to the ref and try to either;

A) Get opposing player off

B) defend team mate

He ran in there and just basically said it was dirty.

exactly so what are the english moaning about, didn't john terry (or hargreaves) get a yellow card for the same thing (but alot more) u see it every game in league where the opposition say it is high, a knock on.
