Owen Hargreaves was phenomenal and was deserverdly man of the match. he was everywhere and i was just amazed by his fitness levels as he played 110% intensity for all 120 minutes and even got his spot kick. his selection was well and truly justified this morning. i was shattered england lost but in saying that i'm rooting for portugal to win.

He's got the heart of a Canadian - like a hockey player.

Why was Rooney red carded?

For pushing Ronaldo or for the stomping? The referee takes no action until Rooney pushes Ronaldo and only then does he take action. He never saw the stomping. Therefore, I think it's for pushing Ronaldo and that's just plain BS.

Steven Gerrard today launched a scathing attack on Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portugal star played a key role in the sending off of Wayne Rooney on Saturday. The Liverpool captain is still incensed by Ronaldo's unsporting behaviour and insists that had he been playing against a fellow Anfield team-mate, he'd never dream of acting in the same way.

"If it was one of my team-mates I would be absolutely disgusted with him," fumed Gerrard. "I saw Ronaldo going over to the ref and giving him the card - he was bang out of order.

"Winking at the bench and his team-mates sums him up as a person. If I was playing against a Liverpool team-mate and they were involved in a situation like that I would never try and get them sent off."

Ronaldo's behaviour isn't the only thing playing on the Liverpool midfielder's mind right now however. That missed penalty is also causing a few sleepless night.

"I just can't get the penalty out of my head," he revealed. "I feel numb at the minute. I was man enough to step up and take it but, the way I hit a ball, I should score a penalty.

"It never went exactly where I wanted it to go. I've taken maybe 20 or 30 penalties and I've probably scored 95% of them. I tried to do what I did for Liverpool in the FA Cup final but my strike wasn't good enough.

"It was the hardest game I've ever played in when we went down to 10. None of the lads had anything left out there. We did well getting it to penalties and I just thought it was going to be our time. I'm just absolutely sick I haven't scored my penalty."

Based on their entire contribution to this tournament, they didn't deserve to go through. Neither did Portugal as well.

England did play better with 10 men, but that is down to system forced on them by that well known tactical genius Ericsson.

And we did play like a bag of s**t for almost th whole tournament, again thanks to the randy Swede and his personal bias getting in the way of picking the best team.

And as for whinging poms? Maybe some people should look at the way they themselves reacted when Italy knocked you out. Sure it wasn't a penalty but Neill was stupid to go into a sliding tackle inside the penalty area when everyone knows Italian players dive likemermaids. (same goes for Portugese)

A) Get opposing player off

B) defend team mate
