A few injuries during the game and maybe he could find himself covering out there but as others have said good centres would give him a bath.

PETERO Civoniceva has not given up hope of playing for Australia again after finally declaring his intent to make himself available for the Kangaroos and Queensland in 2012.

One of the side benefits of the Anzac Day series against the Kiwis, is that most of the QLD team get a chance to work on their combinations one month out from Origin Game 1. :)

I'd go with the same side although start with petero (he's earnt that #) and Myles into the starting side for Taylor.

We can all be thankful that Chris Sandow has permanently scuppered any dim hopes he might have entertained of ever playing Origin.

I'm certain that he did Souths a HUGE favour in leaving their team. I guess that the Eels will be hoping that he somehow does something that allows them to activate a termination clause in his contract.

Most of those individuals are playing out of their skin at club level, currently. Moreso than most previous years. Many of them are coming into the Origin series without preseason surgery/ injury for the first time in years also. This will be an interesting series for the QLD fans.

Last year NSW was riding a wave of Stuart euphoria. This year his 'aura' of winningness at Origin level has slipped into the mud. NSW will not be as overconfident as they were last year. They will be going into this series as legitimate underdogs. Underdog status however is not sufficient to win Origin games.

QLD will have to guard against complacency. Weight of opinion is not enough to win Origin games. Resilience, pursuance and a determination to fight until the last moment will be utterly necessary. QLD's mindset will be the imperative factor in the attainment of the objective.

f**king strong side yet again.

No love for Ash?

Mal likes him over Corey I reckon.

So many great options.

Be criminal if Gillett missed out. Best bench backrower in the comp this year.

Geez

I do like Taylor, Thaiday and Myles lock. With Gillett providing the minutes in this rotation.

4 props, and Evans, to mainly sit on the bench, to be used if required.

Not sure why people object to that at the elite level. I expect my elite to play more minutes than non elites.

You are kidding yourself if you think NSW have been favourites these past 5 years, esp with some of the rubbish sides they've sent out, e.g Turner, Williams, etc.

Qld with essentially two home games will be considerable favourites again this year

Given that some of the players who will be most likely chosen for NSW have been playing injured this year, the outlook for NSW victory is possibly grimmer than it has been at any stage since 2006.

That is what I was basing the underdog status as more legitimate this year than in past years.

Of course, Gidley is out, which raises NSW stocks considerably. :)

why would they leave out harrison?
why would they bring back tate when they didn't play him last year ahead of rep rookie neilsen?

Harrison has been solid for the past few years for QLD, but is not irreplaceable. Parker is at least as solid in defence, and may be a little more dangerous in attack. Plus, Parker is a good goal kicker, should we need options in that department. If Mal chose Harrison, I'd not argue the point. Either would do their duty.

Tate could not be selected last year because of recovery from injury concerns. Tate would appear to be regaining his form of prior years. He is one of those players who rises at Origin time. His defence is rock solid. The side of the field that he plays on, doesn't become the predominant point of attack to the opposition in Origin. He never hesitates in attack. I'd have him there if he was fit.
