the really, really shit thing with it though is the interchange. there aren't any recognised props or middle forwards there.

thaiday has been a gun for QLD and the broncos on the right edge, but has been moved into the middle as he has aged with the decline in his agility and speed. he won't take Gillett's spot anyway.

papallii has played well for QLD as a middle forward in the past, but that was coming on after Scott and Parker have softened NSW up a little in the opening stanza and taking advantage of momentum. his impact was seriously stifled in his usual Canberra position on the left edge in game 1 due to the non-stop nature of that first half.

hess is young, only played a handful of games, and that's coming off the bench onto the edge for NQ too.

based on the above, you can see why they went with Myles and Lillyman in Game 1. an old fella as well, but perhaps they'll pick Lawrence to get some experienced and known starch in the middle of the ground. maybe Kaufusi too. Folks will be thinking WTF? with one of those two selections, but that's the reasoning.
Lawrence deserves a crack. A warrior and toiler plus aims up for big games. Hopefully Friday night he shows everyone what he can do.

So, will Hess be selected?

Green trying to keep his value down by saying he's not ready lol.

Tough choice for the seat pissers. Throw him in too early and he may not recover, keep going with the ancient Myles and Lillyman and you get stomped again in game 2.

You do realise that Cohen Hess himself has said publicly he does not think he is ready to play Origin yet?

....and there it is.

Classic Greasy.

.... through the night.

f**k mate. Lift.

C'mon Cranky Franky ... you can do better than that.

You've gone stale.... like the QLD game 1 team.

That's as weak as a Nate Myles hit up. As weak as the QLD defence in game 1.

Lift Greaay!
Lol. You're just babbling incoherently now. You've been completely broken...

big hit!

Glasby hasn't been talked up enough.

Kaufusi can't run over players like Hess can, but he sure runs a great line. I wonder if there's a forward with more linebreaks than him this year?

i've pencilled him as a possible QLD selection, but you also have to remember, many melbourne forwards have looked like world beaters at NRL level, running off Smith, Cronk and Slater. afterall, how could you not be preoccupied with any 3 of those ball carriers when they're coming towards the line. those champions put the defence in 5 minds. all the Melbourne forward needs to do is run straight. once he gets the ball off them, it's already over.

this gagai to centre thing is making me laugh. just replacing one defensive liability with another.

why the f**k are they and others here suggesting moving their most consistent performer out of position? centre is different to wing. in attack, he'll find less space and see less ball as he won't be bringing it out. in defence, Hayne will just go through him. by all means do it QLD, but it is a dumb move.

better off switching chambers to the right side where he plays for Melb with Cronk. consider Boyd as a centre on the left inside Holmes or Oates. not a fan of FBs playing there, but f**k there are 2 for NSW anyway and they're all better than gagai in defence.

This is so true. Gags is a teriffic winger and not a centres asshole. His defence there has been found wanting at club level and he will get massively found out in origin. Sounds like Walters is looking at Boyd there anyway given the alphabetical selection announcement.

Souffs have signed an 800k winger.

It's understandable that a lot of people have not watched much of Newcastle the past few years and have no idea how poor a defender Gags can be when playing centre.

Have a look at my sig for the past 3 years. It became a running joke it was that bad at times. The fact Kevvie is considering playing Darius there tells us he is not confident in Dane's ability to defend at times.

Gagai is a winger who can attack at centre but can be very questionable when defending there.

O'Niell was one of QLD's best last series. He is a much better defender than Dane.

However, as has been seen in Gagai's origin performances so far, he can do it if he wants. Unfortunately that has been lacking in his club form.

Not for the majority of QLD's dominance - it is widely recognised that a free-flowing fast moving game has been QLD's biggest strength during the 8 straight run. People are already referring to NSW "Out-QLDing" QLD the other night.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...erees-ahead-of-origin-ii-20170618-gwtqy6.html

The NSW Blues have implored the referees not to allow the contest to be dragged down by Queensland's wrestling tactics as they look to wrap up the series in Sydney on Wednesday night.

The Blues know Queensland will place a far greater emphasis on slowing down the ruck to minimise the destruction the NSW forward pack inflicted in the opening game of the series, won 28-4 by Laurie Daley's men.

The Suncorp Stadium ambush last month was rated as one of the most entertaining games of football in recent memory so it's no surprise the Blues want game two officiated in a similar manner, with NSW prop Aaron Woods hoping the referees won't allow the game to be spoiled by the Maroons' expected wrestling tactics.

"It just depends on how the refs are going to ref," Woods said.
"If they were as open as game one ... I thought there wasn't a lot of wrestling in game one. It was very quick and very physical ... Just ref the game the same as they did in the first game.
