Quality side similar to last year bar the injuries JT/Scott.
Would have perffered Wallace & Hes over Lilly man & Aidean G.
Also Gagi in the centres, drop Oneil and add Holmes. Imagine having Wallace, Thaiday & Hes coming off the bench ouch.

Boyd
Oates
Chambers
Gaigi
Holmes
Milf/JT
Cronk
Napa
Smith
Myles
Papaili
Gillet
McGuire

Morgan
Thaiday
Wallace
Hes

I'm really glad Qld picked the following bog standard players. Justin O'Neill, Dane Gagai, Nate Myles, Jacob Lillypad and particularly Aidan Guerra who I haven't seen do anything useful for over two seasons. Will Chambers is pretty basic also but better than those listed above. To be fair other than Valentine Holmes and Slater Qld don't have much in reserve in the outside backs and we're going to have to play at least 1 or 2 mediocre players somewhere in the centres or the wing.

Thanks for leaving out Jarrod Wallace, Valentine Holmes, Billy Slater and Coen Hess for far inferior players.

We will return the favour and pick tard Pearce though.

I wasn't bagging Boyd, but he is more versatile than slater if you want to fit all that class in. Holmes & Slater are special players, O'neil & Chambers aren't.

I might be one of the few, but I like chambers there, just protects the halves a bit having a good defensive centre there. I agree on O'Neil but name me another option that isn't putting Boyd who is ordinary at best at centre there. It is the one position we lack some depth in. O'Neil will be no worse than Dugan so it is a decent choice.

I firmly believe Boyd is the best fullback we have. it will help Milford if he plays too having a club combination there.

It's been 3+ years since Slater was there. Boyd's form this year was just as good as Slater's, and he will suit Milford's game the most if JT is out.
It's been less then 2 years since he was there.

Milford shouldn't be there either, Morgan or DCE should be starting with maybe Milf on the bench, maybe.

Slater is better fullback then Boyd and Boyd is better a winger then Gagai and Gagai is a better centre then O'Niell.

I dunno I dont think Slater has carved up at Origin level since his original knee surgery anyways.

When the NSW kicking game was on (only from time to time), they could isolate him at fullback and really smash him. I thought there was a noticeable step up on kick returns with Boyd and (esp.) Inglis.

The main thing tha QLD lose is that combination... Boyd is a betterplaymaker IMO but will never slot in with the spine like Slater could with Smith and Cronk. Those plays against the Titans were magic.

DCE..shoot me, especially as a starting player. He just doesn't work at Origin level. It is a shame as he's a wonderful bloke but sometimes you have to make a call, we have done that there.

If you want Gagai to play centre, that's fine. Holmes plays wing. He is the Australian winger. Boyd is better than Slater for Milford.

2 years is a LONG time to play the loyalty card. 1 year sure, not 2.

Inglis being out hurts the most- well him and Matt Scott. Put Inglis there instead of O'Neil and all of a sudden it's a great looking side. We don't have that many centres. i mean the best one the Broncos have is from NSW!

I agree Boyd is the form FB in the game, but Slater is to dangerous a player not to find a spot for. I have no doubt Boyd could handle centre, hes a far more mature player than he was in 2008.

If you want to get rid of O'Neil why not play Gagai there? Pick Holmes on the wing. I'd rather leave Slater out if it means moving Boyd. Boyd is the best playmaking fullback in the game, he has to be picked at fullback.

Scott is our biggest loss, that front row wouldn't worry many NRL sides.

Also agree about chambers he done The on Hayne a couple of weeks ago. Assuming the Hayne stain will play in the centres.

That would also be an improvement on the side named, still needs Slater though - hes one player that always makes NSW defence shit themselves.

I like having one centre being defensive It means the halves are under a fraction less pressure.

I like the Napa selection, he just seems like an Origin player. Myles always does a job. Lillyman is a bit meh, I would have picked Wallace.
I just hope Napa doesn't get carried away & understands there's a fine line between aggression and liability. Myles is not what he use to be. 'bit meh' is being very kind to Lillyman.

I don't see Slater as near a certain selection. Boyd is fullback and should be the fullback period. It is handy having more playmakers than less. Rather have Boyd especially if Milford or any other rookie half is there. He's probably the most vocal or close to it. You need to be able to talk to your rookie half a bit.

I would be comfortable with Gagai at centre, Holmes on the wing. Slater as the first reserve in case of injury.

If Milford doesn't play there's going to be a big stink by clubs, anyone who can look past the 'whinging Wayne' stuff can recognise its a problem.

I thought Napa was sensational for the Roosters the past 3-4 games and I saw less brain fades so to speak. There is a fine line though and I feel he has got better channelling his aggression this season. Myles will do a job for QLD, I just question his fitness as he seems to be breaking down a bit lately. I wouldn't have picked Lillyman but I understand the reasoning in not wanting too many rookies.
