I cannot believe Matt Sing wasnt named.

I wouldve but Bell into centre at the expensive of Brent Tate and added in Sing. He is the best specialist winger in the game

Sing has retired from Rep footy

Brent Tate shouldn't be playing, he's not 100%, saturday night showed that, Hunt at Fullback and Bowen on the wing with Bell in the centres. Aaron Payne should be playing too. However with Tate in the team I'm glad Berro's there because i'm not sure how long he'll be able to last in the match

Bell has never played wing in his first grade career. I'd switch him and Tate around.

But that would be the logical thing to do hence QLD selectors won't.

Also is Berrigan on the bench for moral support? Karmichael Hunt, Willie Tonga, Ashley Harrison and Aaron Payne all offer 100x more than him!

Bowen aint great especially under pressure, but Hunt is pure uselessness a mere passenger in defense. It would be an insult to have him picked for SOO.
It was bad enough him playing for Australia.

Stagg, I think will do a good job, he may not be big but I think he will defend like a demon and earn his spot. Scott is a bit of a bolter but I think made for SOO.

You are joking .. What use is Bowen on the wing.. He has to have the ball in his hands or be backing up a forward in the middle of the ruck.. that is where he is most dangerous .

I like the team though two glaring issues I have;

* Steve Bell on the wing, Brent Tate in the centres
* Shaun Berrigan in the 17

Steve Bell is one of the form centres in the competition, Brent Tate is proven at rep level as a winger (see 05 Tri-Nations) and this position swap makes no sense - Bell has to play in the centres pushing Tate to the wing.

Shaun Berrigan has started the season slowly in the centres though reverts to his best position, coming from the bench ala' Craig Wing. Personally, I would of move Bowen to the bench and brought in Karmichael though Bowen is my favourite player in the NRL, I won't complain to much. He has a job to do, questions to answer under the high ball...his success there is vital to our success. If Bowen had to stay at fullback, I would of looked at Aaron Payne due to his combo with Bowen and Thurston.

Great to see new blood in the team :D

These are my thoughts

Fullback: Matt Bowen - An alright choice, personally I'd have Inglis here and Bowen on the bench as an impact player replacing Berrigan.

Winger: Greg Inglis - Moved to fullback and another winger selected.

Centre: Justin Hodges

Centre: Brent Tate - swap with bell

Winger: Steve Bell - Swap with tate

Five-Eighth: Darren Lockyer (c)
Halfback: Johnathon Thurston

Lock: Dallas Johnson
Second Row: Matthew Scott
Second Row: David Stagg
Prop: Petero Civoniceva
Hooker: Cameron Smith
Prop: Steve Price

Interchange: Shaun Berrigan, Carl Webb, Sam Thaiday, Nate Myles

I like the forwards, there are the go forward guys in Petero and Price who have been chewing up metres more than any other players. Smith a great player, the back row may not be as great in attack as the Blues, but the bench sure as hell makes up for it. Webb and Thaiday will be awesome when they come on, and Myles will keep the go forward going.

my only concern about bowen is that he's shown to be a bit uspect when a team tries to hammer him. I'd love him to have a blinder though cos he is a real talent

Whats Tate done this year?
NSW owns thistem in all departments bar halves, and Gower is certainly capable of beating Thuston.

I really don't see the fuss being made about Queenslands backrow. Qld have lost the last 3 Origin series as they have tried to go for size while the mobility of NSW has prevailed. The likes of Stagg and Johnson are the types of players we've lacked in years gone by with fitness, mobility and the ability to tackle their arses off all night. They won't pack a whole lot of punch but that's not their role in the side, that can be left up to the likes of Civo, Price, Thaiday and Webb.

About the only change I would've made to the pack would've been to drop Myles (although he'll no doubt be a regular at this level for years to come) and bring in either Parker or Harrison.

The other changes have all been mentioned already. I'd swap Bell and Tate around and personally I would've played Hunt at fullback with Bowen on the bench instead of Berrigan.

Also...Manly having good props

The guy might say some stupid things, but he's right, you dont have the greatest depths in the halves, hell even the broncos dont have much depth in the halves..

Which club has depth in the halves?
Is there an A Johns clone waiting to replace Johns?
If Matt Orford goes down with they call on 37yr old Toovey?
Who replaces Thurston at origin time? Brett Firman? No thanks.

No club has depth in the halves. Once the stars go down it is basically season over.
