I think it's the fact that their roles are very similar at their clubs, Lockyer would sit back and wait for a time when he was needed to create but after a few years he allowed Thurston to play make.
With Cronk and Thurston I think they're both quite dominant so when one has to be less dominant....they struggle to find a rhythm.
