I lived at Quakers Hill for 6 years prior to moving to Brisbane earlier this year. My family and I loved the place, and it is great if you have a young family. Castle Hill is grossly overpriced and no different to Quakers except for the people who think that they are of a higher class. We only moved because we wanted to live the lifestyle that Queensland offers. If I moved back to Sydney I would have no hesitation in moving back to Quakers Hill.

Yeah I also live in Castle Hill, attractive, comfortable place to live with good nightlife, easy transport to the city by car. I can usually get to the game at Shark Park in about 45mins in lightish traffic. Public transport leaves a bit to be desired unfortunately. The people arent bad, I must agree there are too many emos and god-botherers, however there are enough normal people for it not to be a big issue. Quakers is a bit more on the bogan scale, but i have a few friends who live there.. only place ive been bashed was Quakers Hill though, so I dont exactly love the place, i suppose only the minority get into crime, but the problem is much less in Castle Hill. The suburbs of Baulkham Hills, Winston Hills, Kellyville etc are all great, just dont buy a Mc Mansion, god they are ugly.

If you have more money to spend, North Shore/Northern Beaches are great, as is the Shire.

I live in West Pennant Hills, one suburb east of Castle Hill. I think the big issue is where you will work and what you wanna do with your free time. Castle Hill has crap public transport, the roads are super congested. Ok there are lots of shops, a RSL Club, the Castle Hill Tavern, 10 pin bowling and a new ice rink in nearby Norwest Business Park, but.........its a boring part of Sydney. sh*t happens there. As for Quakers Hill, its a dump and you deserve better.

But the good news is that Sydney house prices are falling and much more affordable than 2 years ago.

sounds like that scene from Something About Mary when the guy is trying to perve at Mary/Cameron Diaz through his binoculars and he gets and eyeful of the old one's upturned National Geographic titties instead

Thanks all for your input. Those who suggested i move to the shire.....sure, id absolutely love too, but my job is out at Richmond and my girlfriend has a job lined up in the CBD, so I am trying to get a joint half way. And the 45 min drive to Shark Park doesnt bother me, i have to drive that and a bit more now to Brisbane games so it doesnt bother me that much. Thinking I best steer clear of quakers, but I have two massive german shepherds so hopefully i wouldnt get broken into.

Once again cheers guys and I look foward to having beer with you at Shark games next year.

Richmond?

either your milking cows or RAAF

Castle Hill will be good for you , you'll be going against the traffic if any.
Your missus might struggle though, either she drives to a station and then two trains or bus and two trains.
I wouldn't even try driving into town.

good luck

hence my Crows Nest idea

a little longer drive against the traffic but with the Lane Cove tunnel it'll get even better

She Who Must Be Obeyed can catch 1 bus into the city

the 2 Rinnies may be the challenge to find something big enough though but worth the search
