Question about Matt Dufty

Whats selective about that stat, he is not in the top 50 try scorers, its a fact and even taking into consideration the games he hasn't played he is probably still not in the top 50.

Remember there are a lot of players in the top 50 who also haven't played every game this year and Dufty has played 13 full games this year.
Cool, so let’s say Dufty plays this weekend, scores a try or two which puts him in the top 50...

Is he now a try scoring machine by your definition?

So players with speed in our club , Dufty , Field , going by this coach won't play first grade on a regular basis because this coach doesn't know how to use them ..

Well the problem is, our fastest players are also our smallest players.

Agree, it takes a creative game plan and some thinking out of the box to use them effectively. Something our very limited coaching team do not possess.

Dufty has too issues to work on to be a FG Fullback. Defence, which can be improved by bulking him up (like was done with Field) plus he lacks ball skills meaning his only position should be wing. Next year Lomax should take Lafai's spot and Field or Sailor to fullback. If we get a new coach you will be amazed how well that will work

Thanks, stalker..

Discussing football here, join in if you actually have anything valuable to add..
You need learn a few things
1 comprehension as you’ve failed to comprehend some of the things on this forum
2 the difference between a lie and a mistake
3 the definition of stalking I don’t follow you I don’t come to your house and spy on you I see your comments on a fan forum that we are both members of that is so far from stalking you’re closer to being trumps media advisor
4 The difference between forum debate and sarcasm and antagonism you clearly have no idea with regards to this or any of the above your avatar says village idiot I suggest that’s spot on the mark
So give yourself an uppercut you Buffoon and concentrate on educating yourself on all of the above
Once again have a nice day still cold and sunny here in Perth and feel free to add to the football debate that’s all anyone asks but you take it down a different route
Bye curious! Hahahahaha

I think Dufty is a better fullback than Norman too. Norman should be our number 7 and running the game for us.
I agree and if that were the case we need to get rid of Hunt, Dufty, Aitken, Lafai, Ravalawa and start again. Maybe we could go with:
Lomax
Pearson
Ramein
Ford
Saab
Sailor
Norman
Timm
McInnes
Vaughan
T Sims
Frizell
Leilua

Lawrie

Graham/Kerr

I’ve been hot and cold on dufty I was hot last year cold this year but sadly unlike working with him to correct his flaws like we are with muzby he’s had his papers stamped like any good young talent at the club ie field,Garrick,Robson et al

Hypothetical, and no I dont think being in the top 50 makes you a try scoring machine. He has a long way to go.

I agree, the coaching may have tried to address his weaknesses but it doesn't look like it and unfortunately now he is a long way from being a junior. I am not saying this is his fault, what I am saying is that regardless of how it has transpired he is not good enough as our fullback and is now unlikely to develop into that player.

Not trying to make excuses for him because he definitely has his flaws. Agree, its probably too late in his career to turn it all around.

But I firmly believe he has suffered with playing in our systems where we play a rigid, scripted structure that doesn't support playing whats in front. Its been mentioned many times, we're too busy preparing for the next scripted play, rather than finishing the current play. That's why half breaks never lead anywhere as all supporters are positioning themselves for the next play, instead of following the ball.

This is where Dufty could have been a huge weapon but our clueless coach can't see it.

No argument with this, there are two issues at play here.

1. Players coming through not being prepared properly for first grade. This has to happen early on not just the season/half season before they step up.

2. A coach who cant adjust the teams style of play to take advantage of the particular skill sets of the players available. Instead he tries to change the players to fit his "plan".

No, we don't have to get rid of Hunt. Norman should be playing halfback and Hunt 5/8. Norman should be running the show and Hunt should be playing as a running and attacking 5/8, who can also create when opportunities arise.

As for Sailor, I think 5/8 looks to be his best position. Maybe he can develop into a first grade 5/8. Until we give him a chance, we will never know.

I’d like to see Lomax go to fullback and sailor and Saab on the wings and not play any centres at all it’ll be less detrimental in the scheme of things lol

I am keen to see Lomax get some decent game time at fullback too. I am undecided if he will make it as a fullback. If he doesn't I am confident he will make it as a centre.

As for Sailor. I think he is too small for wing in today's game. He looks like a 5/8 or fullback to me. He does have some attacking smarts about him.

Correct..so know we have identified it is not the players fault but the whole bloody set up for when they are training with the 1st grade squad (this includes reggies & development players).
We will see know how Jayden Sullivan game evolves under Mary...it wont.. it will be put into a box and tunnel.
I have said on here for 2-3 years that Dufty has what it takes to make it...just needed confidence, coaching and the right game plans to be sniffing around the ruck and forget aboput the 2008/2009 invented fullback sweep and block plays.
He is gone next year and selfishly pray it does not come back to bite us.
But as i know his old man i hope he flourishes elsewhere.
