question re: city vs country and oz vs nz

They're generally available. It's only the "elite" representative games where they're pulled out.

IMO they should have a state of origin on stand alone weeks - Friday night could be state of origin, with the u/20's state of origin as the first game. Then on Sunday they should have a combined NSW & QLD City team vs a combined NSW and Country team (best of 3 serious on Sunday afternoon) and they could have the qld cup/ NSWRL city vs country as first game. Would bring more revenue into the game. They could bring for the start of the NRL by two weeks and play the grand final the next week to counter for the 2 byes, then no clubs should get any byes for the remainder of season.

Main Game - SOO - NSW vs Qld

Sunday Afternoon - Somewhere Country - Townsville, Cairns etc
First Game - City Vs Country (QLD Cup)
Main Game - City Vs Country (combined NSW & QLD)

2 Weeks Later

Friday Night - Suncorp Stadium
First game - Under 20/s NSW Vs Qld
Main Game - SOO - NSW vs Qld

Sunday - Sydney Football Stadium
First Game - City Vs Country (NSWRL)
Main Game - City Vs Country (combined NSW & QLD)


Third Game
Friday Night - Homebush

It's the dumbest idea putting both games on the night at different venues. They shouldve played City/Country on Friday night or the week before and play the test match on Saturday night.

Only thing I like about it is seeing players play against/together that you wouldn't normally see.

For most teams it wont make much difference if someone gets injury since a lot of them have the bye.

A fossil from a time long gone. Only kept for romantic purposes.

It would actually mean more to leave the fixture to players that have not played in the NRL. Would be a big thing for them and they would play the game with real meaning.

no it isnt. playing for your country is the pinnacle. when our ridiculous admin starts to put more effort into our sport internationally, we will grow as a sport. origin is awesome, but not the pinnacle.

city v country is outdated. lets move with the times and scrap it.

the only way i would every keep it is if we had a week free from nrl for international fixtures, aus v nz, samoa v tonga, png v fiji. it is ridiculous making these players back up after such a meaningless rep game.
