For those of you who saw him play, what is he like defencively?

While Andrew Walker showed brilliance with ball in hand, he was a poor defender who cost us in most games.
Will M Witt hold his own in defence?

LOL!! His defence wouldn't be worse than Walker's and hopefully he doesn't get blood noses as often.

great defence, big hits...possibly a bigger hitter then Kylie Leuluai ;-)

What are you smoking??? Never have I seen Witt pull off a big hit. His small so his targeted a lot but is average at best.

gee philips!! your an idiot.

Witt was sound defender never shirked the workload, one of his strong points. I think he could potentially be a very good lock forward later on in his career he has quite strong legs.

a big boy for a halfback.

3 times the player in defence. while Walker may be 3 times the player in attack.

He's got 10kg on Walker which is significant. We don't need his attack as much now. Monaghan was coming along nicely at the end of last season. The only problem is we have bugger all outside backs for ANYONE to pass the ball to.

I doubt he would go any better in any position bar the halves. I wonder if he has played in any other positions during his junior days?

I hope he does Parra Fan.
After getting my hopes up over the "supposed" talents of Jye Mullane who had a poor season, Witty has an excellent chance at playing permanent NRL and Manly desperately need a good 5/8 to partner Monaghan.

That could very well be what happens, Although I am sceptical in Moving Moaghan who had a very good season at 7.

The biggest problem you are going to have is that neither Witt or Monaghan are particularly good at giving the side direction as is evidenced by the fact both sides struggled to win games. I would guess that age and maturity plays a part for Witt but Monaghan has played enough games to know how to follow a game-plan....but maybe Hasler thinks they're a waste of time. I can see them tripping over each other at times next year but I could be wrong!

Are you for real?
Monas is a great leader of the side in attack(Manly were 4th in points for), our only problem was defence with the most points coming from inside our 10 metres.

That is the understatement of the century!!!

Jye stunk sooo bad last year! Witt will do some ok things, but dont expect him to carve up like Walker had the ability to do.
