PB I'm not expecting greatness, Mainly strong defence and the ability to pass and kick the ball .

Monas is a great leader of the side in attack(Manly were 4th in points for), our only problem was defence with the most points coming from inside our 10 metres.

Witt isnt really going to help your defence.

M Witt goes alright, he was hardly a weak point in defence - too often for us that was up the middle

Give him a team where the soul hasn't been torn apart by a early season walkout of a star player, and where there are no alleged personality issues between him and his coach, and Witt will show you his worth.

one thing i like bout witt was he always stood up for hime self and his mates and never backed off no matter how big the block was mut of been his boxing back ground also his goal kicking i rate him as better kicker than ridell thats for sure and those 2 qualities alone should have been enough to keep in the squad even if it was at a different position like centre or something

I mean he wasnt bad but he wasnt great. He was targeted and pretty much held his own. But that wouldve never been enough to keep him in the squad.

gee philips!! your an idiot.

Witt was sound defender never shirked the workload, one of his strong points. I think he could potentially be a very good lock forward later on in his career he has quite strong legs.

a big boy for a halfback.

He wasnt big was he.

he's not fast at all, but he does have big powerful legs.

I've noticed that with his legs too. 8)

He's got 10kg on Walker which is significant.

Well... it's more like 6 or 7 --> but that takes him well out of the 'flywight' range that Walker was in!!!

If Walker was the human missed tackle, then you can expect more of the same from Witt!
He'll get out of the line quickly, sometimes he'll collar his man, but other times he gets made to look stupid (so we had three of them in the team last year when he played).

Should be ok as a pairing with Monos - Witt will kick well and runs the ball pretty well, struggles to organise, but I guess that he won't be asked to do that!

You only had three of those? Our whole team had the tendency to do that, just never together. :x

I've posted this in a Manly forum regarding our halves (or lack of them) for next year. I'd appreciate the insight you parra guys can give on witt. Am I on the right track with what I say?

"Walker’s brain explosion and subsequent chasing of a thin white line means that we’ve lost our primary five eighth from this year. He was also our goal kicker. He has been replaced by Michael Witt. The club should be commended for getting hold of him, for there was precious little else on the market.

However, he has only a handful of first grade games under his belt and is unproven in the furnace of the big games. He is also known more for his defensive capabilities than for setting alight a team’s attack – and it’s not as if there’s much outside of him to pass the ball to (more of that another time).

Monaghan progressed well this year but it remains to be seen if he can stand up and be counted against quality opposition. He didn’t seem up to it in the latter part of Canberra’s 2003 season! The fact that we’re not sure which one of Witt and Monaghan will play where quite literally shows how much the Manly half combination is at sixes and sevens.

The picture is even more depressing should one of these get injured. It seems as though our best option is still Mullane. Heaven preserve us!"

Witt will turn out OK with Manly. Very likeable kid, just not suited to Parra at the moment. If he turns up being a world beater we'll try and buy him back like all the others. :D

reading that! I don't know whether your being harsh or not, maybe a different enviorement may spur the kid on to play some really good footy. I will say this for the type of player he is, his got a nerve of steel when it comes to goal kicking he pratically won us three games on the bell with 2 of those kicks being from the sideline.

IMO his not a regular first grader yet, but for the money you paid this bloke, your gonna want Dessie boy!! to wave his magic wand.
