I'm Baffled too Steve . Baffled that you don't realise you're head is being prepared to satisfy the mob by the real target of our woes?

This is a true story; it may be of interest to some it may not but I'll tell it anyways.

I remember in 2009 I got to meet the players in a post game function in Melbourne, we were socialising with such players Priddis, Creagh & Sailor they were happy to keep talking after the post game function ended anyway we were invited to come join them at another table where there were some young NYC players and their coach Steve Price I knew who Pricey was so I said G'day. Dell noticed I was wearing Saints hat and got a texta from Price and offered to sign it for me, which I happily accepted a few other players were happy to oblige also I then turned to Price and said hey mate can you please sign as well; his answer was "Are you sure you want me to sign it? I'm nobody mate" in which I replied nah man your the Saints your the 20's coach and you played firsts for Saints he then sighed and said "okay I'll sign but I'm telling you I'm seriously no-one mate" This was in front of the players.

The point being that if this is his attitude/confidence how would it rub onto the players? Maybe I'm reading to much into it but like I said some might find the story of interest.

Last year we would've lost those games

My point is that he should be worried about NOW not patting himself on the back for 3 ordinary wins , if PRICE had any kind of coaching nous he shouldve been treating the victories WITH CAUTION,instead he just assumed that it was going to be onward and upward as a leader you've got to be continually looking for problems and try to pre-empt them before they start to take hold. Plenty of people on here were cautious but PRICE errs to the other side of being too optimistic to the point of being delusional,IMO that points to him being no better than a rookie coach and a very poor one at that ,and anyone who defends him either has a vested interest or zero knowledge of rugby league coaching, and in general.

look, i used to be in Price's corner, but I am now wavering.
He has to turn it around.
and fast.
or he is gone.

But can you all stop going on about what Price said at the post match interview - paraphrased - " i don't know what is going on".

The Great Wayne Bennet said exactly the same thing in a few post match interviews during our major slump after origin in 2011 (was it??).
No one said anything then!!!

Also, leave his chin out of it.
It was slightly funny the first few hundred times, but now just looks stupid.
Fine a new line, or don't say anything!!

With no disrespect to you , PRICE should have been cut loose at the end of last season and to compare what BENNETT said to what PRICE said is nothing more than deflection. When Bennett says that, he has credibility as he has just won us a premiership the year before and people would've believed he could turn it around. When PRICE says it he literally means it, and he has no "RUNS ON THE BOARD" so to speak to inspire any confidence from anyone that he has the faintest idea how to TURN IT AROUND. BENNETT = 7 PREMIERSHIPS STEVE PRICE = unable to make final 8.

Makes you think that Browny was sacked only because Bennett became available and not on performance. Under Browny Saints did not have 2 consistently bad season. From memory he only missed out on the 8 once, if not once not twice in a row. If Browny was sacked due to bad performances then you would think Price would have been sacked by now.

As for Bennett he may have referred that to the one game that he had no idea but he was able to fix it from memory and they made the 8 because he was capable of doing so. Price is not capable of fixing this.

I too have met Price this year and it is just that he is a humble nice guy .Unfortunately he isn't a 1st grade coach and sometimes I get pissed off when people on this forum insult him,we have all had enough but the guy loves our club as much as all of us and we should just refrain from the name calling.
For the record I too want a new coach for next season.

Yep I am sure Price is a nice guy. Attack his coaching skills but don't attack him as a person.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that Price's coaching methods are rubbish.
Under Bennett, our defense was running up in a complete even line and THEN slowing down together so the attacker had nowhere to go. The only way to go in my opinion, and, very bloody simple.
Under Price, our defense (some) are running up like brown's cows and others are just waiting for the attack to come to them whilst they are running backwards. I can't handle watching it. It's driving me insane.
If Price can't see what the problem is he must be stupid.
And, then for him to say he's baffled, he needs his marching orders right now.

No doubt BENNETT was hired by Doust to get the heat off himself because of the perceived under achievement from the start of the joint venture, he bought himself a premiership .Bennett came in and did what he was hired to do , but as i said yesterday i think even Doust would be suprised how quickly the club declined after 2010, hence the heat is on again, and Doust is out of ideas and almost time i think.

The players in Melbourne love Craig Bellamy and the Manly boys all stuck around when Des left because they love Tooves. Just because they carry on like pork chops in the coaches box, does not mean they are not nice guys.

I also think it's not nice to personally attack Price. I think he should go, but he is a human being, and having a narrow jaw line has nothing to do with his lack of ability as a coach.

Agree, we need a new coach desperately but it's also not a nice thing to insult the guy.

Well said HOD.
I agree from start to finish.
It's a common line coaches use when they're flummoxed.
Not the first to use it, won't be the last.
Again, it's a case of any and all reasons to lay the boot in.

And on the continual calls for him to resign, and denigration of him if he doesn't, that is just delusional.
I'd warrant few on here, any if they're being honest, would walk away from their means of paying their mortgage/feeding their kids without the payout they're entitled to.
It's one of the reasons managers are engaged, to sack people who aren't performing.
Sack him, pay him out, move on.
It's up to the people in charge to take these steps, that is the job they are tasked with.

I'm not surprised he is baffled, after all it does not take much to confuse a blundering fool. You only have to look at Tony Abbott to see that.

On a positive note, at 5.11 minute mark in the press conference I think he almost let the F word slip...

Seems Benny may just be available again, Doust might get that chequebook out .
