It wouldn't be too good if I didn't tip us to win first game of the year. So I'll go with the 'Dogs by 7.

First game of the year, trials are nothing to go by. You definitely have hope in your own side winning the game.

Go the dogs!

Be an interesting contest. I like the reports that our halves looked good against the Raiders in the trial, as we will need that solid platform to have a chance against the Tigers. Hopefully we can run the big men at Benji and tire him out.

I am taking the Bulldogs by 2.

BTW why is this a sticky? Doesn't really need to be, it's not like there are heaps of threads started in here each week.

Us by 1 will do me. Let's just start the year off with a few wins while the new boys gel together. Last year's R1 loss to Newcastle set the tone for a disappointing season.

Can't. have to work nightshift. Spewing too. Cause the flatmate is a Tigers supporter and it would have been lots of fun.

I really can't be bothered. Monday night Bulldogs Vs Tigers? Are the NRL serious?

I'll watch the game on the box

Can't attend either.

As a side note, I'm expecting Benji to be fired up after the sh*t that happened on the weekend and wouldn't be surprised if he tears us a new one :(

Five New Faces for Clash with Tigers

8/03/2011 3:53:23 PM

A total of five new Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will be unveiled as the Club kicks off its 2011 NRL campaign against the Wests Tigers in front of what is expected to be a bumper crowd at ANZ Stadium on Monday night.
As the Bulldogs Membership total passed the 2010 mark of 12,000 today, head coach Kevin Moore named Trent Hodkinson, Kris Keating, Aiden Tolman, Sam Kasiano and Frank Pritchard in his 17 to tackle the Tigers.
Hodkinson, Keating, Tolman and Kasiano will start the match, while Kiwi international Frank Pritchard will enter his first competition game in blue and white from the interchange bench.
Moore said finalising his squad for round one was a difficult task.
“I’ve been really impressed with the application shown throughout pre-season and the trial phase of our preparation and every player has earned his spot this week,” Moore said.
“This is a side that has been picked on form. It’s got a nice blend of youth and experience and I’m excited to see them play in front of what we expect will be a big crowd on Monday night.”
Captain Andrew Ryan will make his first appearance for 2011 in the second row alongside Jake Foster, another player who impressed in the Bulldogs three trial matches after making his NRL debut midway through last season.
The Bulldogs NRL and Toyota Cup teams to play the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium on Monday 14 March are as follows:
NRL
1. BEN BARBA
2. STEVE TURNER
3. JOSH MORRIS
4. JAMAL IDRIS
5. BRYSON GOODWIN
6. KRIS KEATING
7. TRENT HODKINSON
8. AIDEN TOLMAN
9. MICHAEL ENNIS
10. SAM KASIANO
11. JAKE FOSTER
12. ANDREW RYAN
13. DAVID STAGG
INTERCHANGE
14. MICKEY PAEA
15. FRANK PRITCHARD
16. COREY PAYNE
17. BEN ROBERTS
HEAD COACH: KEVIN MOORE

Your thoughts? Little surprised to see Keating get the starting spot, be interesting to see how long he lasts there. Frank the Tank off the bench is a good move IMO

Roberts on the Bench, unfortunate he is still in the team but the negative influence he has on the team now can be limited!!!!

Made my whole day that Keating has been given first shot at number 6.

Ben Roberts believes he has done enough to get the first crack at Canterbury's vacant five-eighth spot ahead of this Friday's trial with St George Illawarra.

hahaha.

The rest of the team looks great, suprised that young Kasiano got first shot at 10 though.

Is any of our players injured currently?

Eastwood back in round 2 hopefully will either slot straight into front/second row depending on who impresses more (Kasiano or Foster) I would imagine. In the unlikely event that Ryan Tandy is cleared to play eventually, I'd imagine he would occupy the other front row spot with Tolman and Eastwood will be a fulltime second rower

I'm also glad to see Pritchard on the bench, i think we can transform him into a great bench player.

Thanks mate, i knew about Eastwood but i was asking more in reference to Hodgson. Has he just been dropped or is there a little injury?

I like the look of Foster starting with Kasiano and Tolman. Lots of hard workers with some power and meters in them. Also, Foster is very skilful and his ball work will be something to look out for.

The bench has impact with Pritchard, Roberts and Paea but Payne shouldn't be there IMO. I would have Browne, Millington and Halatau in front of him.

Hopefully when Eastwood comes back we'll have a better looking side but after thinking it over and really looking at the side since it was named, I'm happy with it
