Latu had a sternum injury. Might not have recovered.

Good to see Wallace, McKendry, Yeo in the starting side. Taylor off the bench, a master stroke, huge impact.

Shit, I'm getting despondent about this season before it's even kicked off.

It is a very depressing side. I love Elijah, but he's either the starting lock and playing 80 minutes or not in the side at all. And going off the reports of Sam mc's trial form, as well as his form last year, he shouldn't be starting, let alone in the 17.

Ok ill try be positive. I am looking forward to seeing what Blake can do after good preseason form. Also think Bryce will have a blinder

It's so ugly. DWZ should be at fullback, time to find out if his problems with taking kicks are terminal for him in that position.

I have no issue with Yeo selection, he improved immensely last year and has only got bigger/stronger. One of the reasons Smith is FB is because from what I can see we wouldn't have any other top 25 backs available with both Moylan and Whare out . I also think he's not nearly as bad at FB as people make out. Same with McKendry, I can't see any other options with Latu injured and I don't think you're going to dip into your second tier cap first round.

Agree regarding ET though. Would of had him in 13 with Merrin at 8.

Man that's a depressing side. Spots are supposedly up for grabs and in the end trial form has counted for nothing and we have picked a very average side considering some of the players available.

I really worry about losing DWZ now. He only signs one year contracts knowing he can earn more and be a better player at fullback. But now Matt Moylan is looking set to stay at fullback after not starring at 5/8th in his first game in 9 months. Even when he is injured Will Smith is ahead of Dallin now. So he's further down the list then last year. Would be interesting to see if Hiku is ahead of him also.

Two personnel changes (Smith and Mckendry) could make the side so much better balanced:

1. DWZ
2. Hiku
3. Yeo
4. Blake
5. Mansour
6. Soward
7. Wallace
8. Merrin
9. Segeyaro
10. RCG
11. Cartwright
12. Peachey
13. Taylor

14. Latimore
15. Matagi
16. JFH
17. Garcia / Sopoaga

If JFH is injured then Sopoaga and Garcia round out the bench. Mckendry can earn his way back into first grade, not come straight back in after one NSW Cup trial. Likewise Smith should need to earn his way in or wait until there's enough injuries that he's our best / only option.

Really shits me seeing a side with so many poor performers from the trials in it. Blake wouldn't even be there if Whare was fit and he was our best in the trials.

I have no doubt DWZ would be fullback if he hadn't looked like a total mess trying to field kicks in the trial. It wasn't just a fumble, a simple mistake he shook off, he looked scared of taking the ball and f**ked up three from three. He played himself down the pecking order.

I'm not so concerned about leaving DWZ on the wing for the moment, because he's coming back from a really serious injury (twice now) and I'll bet his confidence will take a while to return. The rest of the contentious selections though.........

Agree with DWZ. Coming back from a serious injury so ease him in.
When whare and Moylan are fit you get rid of Wallace and smith ;)

serious mate we could name jesus in every position and you would still not be happy. your naming players not even selected in any team. At least wait till after the game till you hammer them

I named one player not selected and said if he was unavailable who replaces him. Does it look like I am the only one bothered by this side? Guess what... we dont like seeing poor performing players represent our team.

We named our worst player from the trial against the Eels in one of the most important positions... where we have a 25% win rate with him playing. Really fills me with confidence. :sarcasm:

We also named Sam Mckendry who was dropped for poor form yet is straight back into first grade after one average trial performance. I dont think he will let us down, but I don't think he will offer much either.

God forbid a fan wants to see a half decent team named to give us our best chance at a win. If the players had performed in the trials I and everyone else would be happy. But they didn't play well.

Why wait until after this game has been played when we have seen these players a few times this year already? These guys might do alright, but there were better options available based on preseason form. I want to see our best performing players rewarded with a spot
