I cannot tell you how not only heartbreaking, but FRUSTRATING tonight's loss is. I felt like throwing something at the tv when Dugan went over, as then and there I knew we were gone.
Reminded me a lot of our home match vs Warriors in 2005 (which we should've won and would've never lead to that infamous 13 game losing streak), where we also lost after leading, courtesy from a late try after knocking on from an attempted field goal from the Warriors, which gave the Warriors another chance in our own half.
5 losses in last 6 games. What is frustrating is that we have led in every one of those 5 matches (8-0 vs Sharks, 14-0 vs Raiders, 12-10 vs Warriors, 12-0 vs Souffs and 8-0 tonight). Dunno what it is and why we keep conceeding those leads but I REALLY hope they don't
come back to haunt us at the end of Rd 26 when it comes to reasons why we just missed the top 8. Bennett now finds himself in a very unfamiliar situation in his coaching career. Extremely tough game down in Melbourne next week, another team we have an atrocious record against.
yes, I know the referees were inconsistent with keeping the 10m tonight, but that is no excuse. The errors in possession when we were in the Dragons half, especially from Waddell and Houston, were coach killers. The knock-on from McManus (who had a very good game) sealed the deal, and was simply the culmination of our unstructured style of play in the 2nd half.
It's time to get rid of Waddell, I agree. He's had enough chances to prove his worth and hasn't impressed me one bit from the moment he landed at our club. Slow, lethargic, and too many errors have been killing us in the hooking department. Playing a 35-year old Gower isn't going to do any harm to us in the short-term (which is what he's here for, given his age) and I would be more than happy to fast-track him into the side ASAP. I have fond memories of his playing days in Penrith during his peak nearly 10 years ago and I'll be very pleased if he can show even half of what he did back then.
