Yoshy, you're being too harsh IMO.

Yes, we lost and yes, we all get a bit emo when that happens, but to beat the top sides you need to have your best side on the park. Not making excuses, but Gidley, Snowden and McKinnon are fair losses and then throw Mason in there halfway through it doesn't help.

I saw enough today to suggest if we meet the Roosters in the finals, we'll be in it up to our eyeballs.

I thought it was a great game. Fun to watch. We were in it till the end. Some decisions went against us but we did ourselves proud, kinda...

As you said, I think we can beat them if we meet them again and I think we can beat the likes of the Storm and a Inglisless Souths as well. The one side I don't think we can beat is Manly... They are just too aggressive for us. Also the Warriors. They'll beat the Qld Origin team on their day.

I'm not sure if I'm expressing myself well, I just feel that the team (or most of the team) believe that we could have won today. Most of they looked like the underdog, just doing their part.

I gotta say I hope Boyd leaves... Cannot hack his attitude anymore. When he scored that try he was jubilant, but when it looked the game was over, he didn't even try... That is disgusting...

Bennett said his decision to take the two points when the Knights had received three consecutive penalties while trailing 18-10 midway through the second half was about making sure Newcastle didn’t end their attacking raid empty handed.
“I thought someone should have went to the sin-bin first and foremost for the repeated infringements. It was obviously deliberate,” Bennett explained.
“We were running across field and no one was really going forward and I thought we were starting to lose our way.
“We looked like we were getting pretty frustrated and I thought the next thing we will do is lose the ball, so instead I thought we should just take the two and settle ourselves down.

Bennett didn't have confidence we could score and to me that very obviously rubbed off on the players. Although I'm harping on about it I don't think it cost us the game by any means, rather surrended our best (and last, in hindsight) chance of a comeback.

He handled the press conference the way that Cleary should have done it last week. Said he wasn't going to speculate on Mason's possible injury from the tackle.

First things first, if it was anyone but SBW, they would have been marched, dog act and deserves plenty of time on the sidelines. Refs are too gutless to act decisively.

Second, what do you have to do to get 10 in the bin for a professional foul, 15 to go and anyone of 3 roosters players should have went.

The refs frankly had a sh*t game, some examples, the Pearce forward pass leading to the 3rd try, Knights hard on attack in the second half, Minicello knocks on to a player in an offside position, should be a knights penalty, they call a Knights knock on. Uate knock on, dropped it straight down and ends up in clear, ref could have allowed play to continue but called knock on.

Its difficult to beat the comp leaders but impossible if they keep getting massive legs up like the Roosters do. I just can't see how the refs keep balls it up. Some clubs such as Melbourne and the Roosters get a saloon passage.

On our performance, we were in it up to our necks with 10 to go and with a bit of luck we would have been in front, we made a number of chances which we didn't capitalize on in the first half with jimmy having a case of the dropsies in the clear.

I thought our forwards more than held their own against the Rooster grubs and losing Mase on the back of no Snowden hurt us but we muscled up and dug deep.

We lacked clean execution but frankly so did the Roosters for much of the game. With a ounce of luck our passes would have stuck and we would have been away.

I can see both points of view on the kick at goal and Bennetts view is reasonable.

Overall it was the one that got away but we can take a lot out of it. We just need to keep improving and playing tough and the rewards will come.

I can see Bennett's view on the penalty kick but at the same time I don't think I agree with it because of what Minichiello said after the game, which was that it gave them confidence that we knew we couldn't score 2 tries.

That in itself is probably good enough reason not to do it. If you were the Roosters players and you'd just been not only scrambling on your goal line for a few sets but also deliberately giving away penalties to disrupt our attack, you would be rapt getting out of there having only conceded 2 points and still be ahead by 6.

The boys were excellent for the majority of the game. This Roosters have one hand on the title. Only South stand in their way. We won't win this year. We did however learn a valuable lesson in execution. We needed more little men around the ruck when they were tiring.. Roosters line speed is unbelievable. I believe they will blow Souths off the park in round 26. Roosters had not conceded a point in 3 hours prior to our try.
We need to stay positive. Without our two big boppers we physically matched them. Jeremy Smith was the best forward on the park for us by a country mile.

Cheer up Yoshmeister. I think we will still make plenty of noise between now and September. Boyd was pretty decent today.

And how good was it to see Buderus, Mullen, Roberts and Gower all on the field at the same time. Can't go wrong with those four plus Boyd sniffing around the ruck- if only we had a forward who could offload...

I actually thought we should have taken the penalty kick at goal early in the game when scores were level. 2 ahead might have given us a leg up. I thought they should have too when they had the chance.
Game over, move on.

Problem with the penalty was also that they could've gone for a field goal if they had good field position (which they did and surprisingly didn't take a shot) and been out of reach again.

Some costly calls against us and a few errors which we can fix up.

Would've loved to have had Willie out there when things were getting heated.

Where were those four plus Boyd when smith made his break and was looking for support?

Anyone else think Boyd Cordners Knee was the same 'accident' that Snowden did last week???? I know Cordner didn't do it deliberately and I quite like him as a player, but from the frustration of our top player not being around for two huge games it makes me ask the question... What was the difference???

And Mullen was down for 5mins getting treatment. AND I believe Mullens tackling technique was fine too... just that knee was in the wrong place! A little constancy would be nice, but it seems the Knights aren't liked in HQ right now!

I thought Snowden's suspension was pretty harsh, but the 2 incidents are nothing alike IMO.

Mullen's head was simply in a poor position while going in for the tackle and Cordner didn't lift his knee. Nothing more to it than that.

Simple no go forward as snowden was out and Gidley is missing if you had him he would make a big difference in games like yesterday.

Need that leader out there when you guys started falling apart in the second part of the second half.

I think Gidley would have been good out there. When we're missing forwards having Gidley out there at the same time as Bedsy and Roberts could be the best option we have. Kidley is really the best interchange player lol!

Also, Maloney had to be binned. We would have had the extra man, all the momentum and we probably would have scored... Refs need to step up...
