R22 Judiciary Charges

You know that Mason and for that matter the others would have got away with it if they tackled properly. Use your arms. Not that hard. Do it.

Regardless of that, how the F*CK is it that someone can deliberately head butt a bloke and get NOTHING yet these shoulder "charges" get 2 and 3 weeks?

Todd Greenburg was brought into his role to give the NRL admin an experienced league operator so that the NRL had a feel for the game and would be administered in the spirit of rugby league.

The pin headed f*ck has done nothing but further alienate fans from the game.

Hand your resignation in Greenberg. You are a joke.

Shillington should have been referred straight to the tribunal and received 6+, but Mason deserved 2 for stupidity alone.

You do realise that neither he nor the entire Manly team knew of the rule change on the day of the game?

So saying he deserves 2 weeks for stupidity on a rule that was not relayed to him is a bit OTT.

It was outlawed before the game, the weeks prior it was still a chargeable offense.

You are telling me your players don't have IPhones. I find it very hard to believe they don't check their phones prior to games.

Check their iPhones and come across an NRL rule change?

"What are you doing Mase? Texting your missus?" .......

"No mate just checking in on the NRL website for any last minute rule changes before kick off"

Most players state that they do not read newspapers as they are full of shit and lies. Where else were they going to get this scoop?

As for it had been outlawed previously - tell that to Kane Evans.

It was still illegal, people have been charged through the season for this. Look the fact is this change should have happened weeks ago, but lets not pretend these players don't deserve a penalty. Personally the penalties are a bit on the severe side (a grade 1 high tackle rate would be more appropriate). That way you sort of cop a warning once, but you do it again you can sit down for a week or two.

I agree that changing the number of points for a shoulder charge on the day of a game is stupid, however someone at Manly had to know about it. I can understand Toovey and the players not paying any attention to the media on game day so them not knowing is understandable, but management would have known. Why none of them had the foresight to make sure that they knew about the change before they ran out on to the field is beyond me

Changes shouldn't be made 5 weeks from the finals.

Do you honestly believe Mason would have been charged last week? I can't believe he got charged for that. As for Shillington, free to play this week? They need to put a boot through the joint. You have big off your face to give him no weeks for headbutting. He shouldn't be back this season. We don't want that stuff on the field.

Jeremy Smith with the Josh Reynolds special immediately following a penalty that should of been a stint in the bin gets off lighter than Masons "shoulder charge"?

I believe Mason when he says he didn't know.

Mason was preparing for the match when the NRL released their statement on Friday.

No way Mason would look at NRL news and distract himself on game day.

I completely disagree with you mate on this one.

Mason might not, but are you telling me no one at Manly checks their e-mail on game day? I'll bet the NRL's announcement was not sent solely to Geoff Toovey's e-mail address at Manly. It might be a bit harsh, but it sounds like a cop out for some of the claim on this one I'm afraid - and yes if it happened to my club I would say that too.

p.s.

There were 3 other clubs playing last Friday. None of them said they didn't hear about it. Hence my scepticism about the claims from Manly.

The point is the NRL shouldn't do what they did on a Friday 5 weeks before the finals.

What Mason did didn't deserve any suspension anyway.

None of them got charged with the changed rule. Do you think this has a lot more to do with him opening his clap trap then the offence?

There was nothing wrong with the previous law... If the shoulder hits the head = suspension.
If shoulder hits below shoulder high a penalty is sufficient. All coaches don't want players giving penalties away. How many should charges were done before Kane Evans ?

Bet your bottom dollar Hargreaves would've been suspended for the remainder of the season if he did a similar thing.
