Well cricket they can sell to the Asian market as well as keep those locally.

I am sure as rights holders in Australia it is opens the door to have talks add ESPN to DAZN particularly in countries that don't have ESPN +

WWE content is leaving Fox next month, The HBO stuff will follow.

So the question comes what value is in Foxtel as it stands now?
They can buy international rights to those sports without buying foxtel, in fact that’s exactly what DAZN do…

Murdoch is famous for knowing when to get out of a business. The short term value in foxtel is the cable, but that’s churning with every year, long term it’s the subscriber base made up primarily of NRL & AFL fans.

Be interesting if DAZN do buy Fox. Will they take over production of sports coverage here (not something they have done before elsewhere) or expect the sports themselves to produce their own content?
Given there are existing contracts in place with other sports I don’t see much changing. They may look to cut costs from production though.

Yeah but now they can attend as a partner and make their pitches to people like ESPN

I agree Foxtel is losing it's value hence why I don't see DAZN not making changes somewhere. How big those changes are is the unknown

Them producing content doesn't fit with what we have seen from them up until now and while it will cost customers it is also cheaper to take the F1 feed and so on.

Anyone heard about Foxsports not being interested in bidding for the next tv deal

I read it somewhere but I can’t remember if the person who said it had a clue or not

Well that starts the Fox among the Hares.
DAZN seem to be mainly interested in sports with global appeal, with the low profit margins generated from streaming this may be the only way they can recoup the huge amounts they are forking out for these sports. Remembering that they will only be able to bid for streaming rights, anti-syphoning laws will restrict them from monopoly rights.
I`m wondering if the sudden obvious recent international ambitions of the NRL, be it PNG, Pacific investment, Vegas, Ashes tours restarted, are a deliberate ploy by the ARLC to entice a global company like DAZN to take a punt on NRL.

Well the interesting point about DANZ and the sale of Foxtel, what is the position of supposedly minor share holder (40 %) holder (Telstra) do they sell also? Wait and see.

Which was my point last week.

DAZN until now doesn't produce content and has sports that are easy sells to multiple markets.

ESL has been very cheap and they have shown no interest in the past

Don’t know Telstra still owned part of Foxsports

With png coming in they will be a big player in the nrl rights via digicel pacific

I read somewhere that Telstra are open to Foxtel being sold. So they don`t obviously feel threatened. Recently also this tie up between Testra`s Fetch and DAZN suggests they may see a positive in it.

"In September, 51% Telstra owned Fetch TV announced it would include the DAZN app on its platform however, this could be pulled unless Telstra who own 35% of Foxtel and 51% of Fetch cuts a deal for the app to stay on the struggling Fetch platform"

DAZN were also said to be interested in Optus Sports, however are now said to be focusing on Foxtel.

"According to sources another option being discussed is that Optus winds their Optus Sports app into DAZN a move that could hurt arch rival Telstra and their majority ownership of Fetch TV."
