Raiders fury at Kiwi rorts - Wiki lured by 'illegal' offer?

if its part of the contract and it isnt disclosed to the NRL then yes it would be wrong.

If it were included in the Salary Cap and the NRL was advised then there wouldnt be a problem.

Fact: Raiders knowingly rorted the cap on the way to winning the titles

Fact: Warriors appear to have rorted the cap, have won nothing and will be punished.

Fact: Both sides were wrong

My Opinion: Aside from the dogs, the raiders are the last side who should be whining like stuck pigs

Fact 1: Its been proven the only reason we went over was because of incentive based contracts, unless we knew how many games we'd win and who would go on to play origin and for their country, we didnt knowingly do sh*t, you trackhead. Not only that, but the sums being discussed with the warriors and the million dollar Dogs rort, is skies ahead of what canberra were in 91... we were 50-100k over... A sum that is bandied around every year, just last year a host of clubs were fine for these minor breaches

2: Warriors allegedly cheated the cap knowingly and purposefully, in doing so lured 2 opposition club stalwarts and icons with dirty money. Im f**king pissed!

Fact 3: Whilst both were over the cap, one is a minor accidental breach, the other a major alleged purposefully breach... schools apart.

Fact 4: Your a f**king idiot, who has absolutely no f**kin idea what he is talking about

My opinion: Your also borderline geniused

another fact is that all offering 300k after retirement in a contract is supposed to be included in the salary cap and the failure to do so is an illegal practice

It's not a fact, at this stage it's an allegation.

I was close to tears when Ruben did his lap of honour after his last game at stadium.

Raiders chief, Hawkins, is on record saying that he was told by Jim Banaghan (Wiki's agent, and crook in my opinion) that there was no point in the Raiders bothering with Wiki, as the deal was done. This was before June 30th.

The whole deal stunk from the beginning. Wiki never wanted to leave, and was bawling his eyes out during his lap of honour. Remember he even played the following week with a stuffed ankle, just to put the Green on one last time. Wiki is class, but his agent is a dog.

Ruben was a great man....not just a rugby league player but a role model. He always guts it out for his club and off the field he is a gentleman.

IIRC Ruben Wiki went to the Warriors partly because his sister went missing in Auckland, and he wanted to find her and look after her.

You make it sound like he was forced to do something he didnt want to.
At the end of the day, WIKI signed with NZ.

I wonder what we'll hear if its found Wiki knew it was all suss?

Will you still think he 'is class'?

Knowing Ruben's character, I think it's fairly safe to assume that he would have been led to believe by his agent and Warriors mgt that it was kosher.

If not then it would be incredibly disappointing to me and many Raiders and league supporters I know.

This guy is bigger than the sport. You don't meet many people like him in your life time.

I imagine there would be many players blindly yet stupidly putting total faith in their managers.
When it comes to legal documents etc, Im of a similar ilk, need it explained in plain english, luckily Ive had people I can trust wholly when dealing stuff big time.

i dont think Wiki may have been entirely honest but you must understand while its inexcusable

Would you take another 300k(using figure as an example) a year above or below table once you retire so you and your family would benefit? This is something for both Wiki and Price btw...

it was an illegal team by definition in 1991... the year WE LOST
89, 90 and 94 we all perfectly legal :) So no titles were won illegally, you dunce

You wouldn’t know sh*t from clay. In 1990, the following clubs were over the $1.5m salary cap by the following margins:
$85,853.00 Raiders
$24,200.00 Wests
$39,000.000 Parramatta
$4,000.00 Easts
The Raiders were 5.5% over the salary cap. The Raiders being 5.5% over the cap is a little different to the margin the Dogs and the Warriors went over the cap,

You needed to cheat to get him dude, He is a Raiders legend not a Warriors legend, if all was fair we may have kept him

Those of us who have followed the Warriors since their creation will remember being deadset shattered when the Raiders offered Wiki additional money to sign with them when he already had a contract with the Warriors for their inaugural season, ( coincidently this happened in the early 90`s when they themselves were proven to be over the cap)

What goes around comes around.

How the hell can you not offer a player like Wiki a job after league?. He was a great back and now is a brilliant forward and the Most capped international player of all time. From what i read, he wanted to bring his kids home to get some culture so i dont think an after playing role would have suited him at Canberra.
