West Tigers are two previously "successful" (so u say :lol clubs. Hell if they did that to Canberra, the 1989 Grand Final would have been 40-12

Considering you merged two clubs with a large junior base each, went on a spending spree before season 1 and had some quite high-profile players, were almost expected to make the 8... the Raiders essentially started from scratch. But yeah, we've won a spoon, I don't care. So have a lot of clubs. And by 1984, our 3rd year in, we had reached the playoff for 5th place. By 1987 it was the GF. 1989 needs no explanation...

At least our first four years had nothing of the magnitude of

'hoppa-gate'
the pink bitch t-shirts
players on smack

so be careful with your comparisons....

I agree. I think finally you are getting your act together, Tim Sheens has been a good influence. I dont know what would have happened if you didnt nab him. I have my own views on joint ventures, personally I don't like them because I don't think you can treat sporting clubs like businesses due to the emotional attachment. But thats just my opinion. My personal preference would be to see one of the originals back in the comp, but that wont happen.

And despite being only 23 years long, I am proud of Canberra's history. We have a great record of bringing juniors through from the Canberra-Southern Highlands region and turning them into household names. We have been in every finals series bar three since 1989, a proud record of success over a long period. Hopefully some of our players from the glory years of 89-94 will become immortals one day. Canberra is a great league town.

This is why I will defend my club to the death every time. You guys can heap shit on it all you want, I'll stick up for it. Thats what 69 and Raiders_2004 do as well, albeit differently. I would expect nothing less from any league fan - to stick up for the club that is in your blood.
