MITCHELL Moses wants to feature in a team that is a genuine chance of winning an NRL title, and admits forever missing out on finals with the Wests Tigers “takes its toll on you’’.

Moses and fellow high-profile free agent James Tedesco were happy for Ivan Cleary to come on board as coach — which is likely to be made official as early as Monday — but they want to be part of a premiership force.

Only time will tell if the Tigers are just that.

Moses won the Harold Matthews competition with Parramatta and then went through undefeated with Balmain in the SG Ball, and again made the finals with the Tigers’ Holden Cup team.

“I was playing those games and winning most of the time,’’ Moses said.

“Then I came into first grade and lost a few games and finished down the bottom of the ladder.

“It was different. It will benefit me in the long run. I want to know who the coach is, but you obviously want to be in a team that is winning games and pushing for the title.

“Being here the last three or four years we’ve been at the bottom every year. It takes its toll on you.

“Money is the last thing on my mind. First thing is I want to be playing good footy in a good footy side.’’

Moses is demanding north of $800,000 a season, but has not justified that whopping price tag yet this season.

In fact, he is the only starting five-eighth in the NRL yet to register a try assist or a line break assist, and has missed 19 tackles.

Toughen up princess !! You can actually play good footy in a not so good side, or is that news to you?

Stop talking to the press and tell your manager to stop talking up your worth as a NRL player.

Finally, I hope you are not blaming everyone else for where the team is on the ladder. It's a team sport, whilst all your team mates are no doubt trying, you have to be in it together and for each other.

These guys should be honest with themselves. They aren't playing finals footy because at the moment they aren't good enough. I want them to play finals footy with us as well but they have to improve their games.

It's no one's fault other than theirs.

Do these absolute f**king nuffies realise maybe their own performance (barring Tedesco) is costing them a finals spot?

Sorry I don't buy that shit. Maybe actually try (re 2nd half last week and last 2 games) and you might get that magical finals appearance woooo

100% Considering the teams that make the finals all have good defence, these clowns need to think about all the tackles they miss every week, and how quickly they throw in the towel.

Prime example last year when they had the perfect opportuniry to make the 8 last year but absolutely dogged it against Penrith, then the raiders in last game

No one but themselves to blame. They contribute to us missing the 8 as much as anyone else

Even Tedesco fits into this category as well.

Gee 05 your being a bit harsh on Teddy.......Always above average whenever he plays....He cant do it all by himself, and no help from the Mini Minors so far.
The other overinflated wannabees i can cop---- Moses,Brooks,Hillbilly.
In other words Moses is more or less saying "most of the guys i play with are shit"..lol.
IF Cleary does sign we need to sweep out the average players and the ones who want more than they are worth..
All this talk about contracts is making sure we are spoon bound in 2017..
Honestly i cant see a side we can beat....include Knights in that as well.

Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks to miss up to six weeks with hamstring injury
Michael Chammas
Published: March 31, 2017 - 7:30PM

Luke Brooks' immediate playing future is in limbo with the off-contract halfback set to miss up to six weeks with a recurring hamstring injury.

The Wests Tigers have tried to keep the severity of Brooks' injury under wraps, however the halfback now faces a lengthy stint on the sidelines after suffering a grade two hamstring tear in the loss to Melbourne last Sunday.

While Brooks is hopeful of only missing just four weeks, there is a possibility he may not be back until round 10 against South Sydney, which will mark seven weeks between games given there is also representative round in April.

The timing of the injury – which is a recurrence of the hamstring injury he picked up at the Auckland Nines – couldn't have come at a worse time for Brooks, who might not get another chance to prove his worth before signing a contract for 2018 and beyond.

While Brooks has long been regarded a player of immense potential, he has come under fire in recent weeks for his performances to start the year.

Despite his struggles to open the season, the Tigers are still keen to keep him at the club beyond this year, but at what price remains the question.

Ivan Cleary, who is expected to be announced as new Wests Tigers coach on Monday, will get a major say in whether the club retains the off-contract Brooks, Mitchell Moses, Aaron Woods and James Tedesco.

But unfortunately for Brooks, who will be replaced by Jack Littlejohn, his inconsistent performances to start the year will be the only gauge for Cleary to go off if a decision on his future is made over the next month.

This Sunday's game against the high-flying St George Illawarra will likely be interim coach Andrew Webster's last match in charge of the joint venture before Cleary takes control of the club.

Cleary's first assignment is arguably the toughest in the competition, heading up to Townsville to take on Johnathan Thurston and his North Queensland Cowboys.

The club is just finalising the details of the contract that will see Cleary at the helm in Tiger town until the end of 2020.

The futures of the off-contract David Nofoaluma, Kyle Lovett, Tim Grant, Jamal Idris, Kevin Naiqama and Matt Ballin are also up for negotiation.

Grant, Idris and Naiqama all played under Cleary during his time at the Panthers, so too Elijah Taylor – who joined Penrith to link up with his former Warriors coach.

Wests Tigers submit plans for $57 million centre of excellence at Concord Oval
Michael Chammas
Published: March 31, 2017 - 7:40PM

Suddenly the future looks bright at the Wests Tigers. Just days out from announcing Ivan Cleary as the man to lead the joint venture, the club has submitted plans for a $57 million centre of excellence that will be the benchmark of sport in NSW.

Plans that revolve around the eventual demolition of the Concord Oval grandstands have been put forward to the state government as part of an initiative that will see $40 million invested into NSW sporting facilities.

The Wests Tigers are hopeful of moving out of their dilapidated Concord Oval headquarters into their new facility in 2019, which will also include a multi-purpose community facility as part of the designs submitted for approval on Friday.

The Tigers, who arguably have the worst training facility in the NRL, are expected to put forward in excess of $10 million which will be matched by the state government to build one section of the facility.

The club has also gathered financial commitments from several different bodies to fund close to $30 million needed to build the community-based section of the facility.

"This facility is paramount for the evolution of this organisation to remain competitive in the NRL, especially when it comes to attracting and retaining not only football talent but talented staff," Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe said.

"As spoken about previously, we're diligently working towards establishing a winning environment and this facility certainly adds to that. We want to provide a world class training, administration and community facility that services the needs of the club, players, staff and community over the next 20 years and beyond. This is a vision we're feverishly working to turn into a reality."

NRL clubs were asked to submit their second final plans to government on March 31, with the Sydney Roosters and Manly Sea Eagles among a long list of NSW clubs trying to earn a piece of the $40 million pie on offer.

The Tigers have purposely included a community use section as part of their submission, which has the backing of rugby union club West Harbour Pirates.

The facility will include a Tigers-exclusive gym and a community gym, as well as three basketball courts, boxing facility and rehabilitation clinic.

"The proposed development is based on an exemplar model, bringing together elite sport, a community group with impeccable credentials in delivering facilities and programs to benefit the community, and local government," Pascoe said.

"The model delivers outstanding facilities, efficiencies across multiple users, a focus on sustainability, and commercial opportunities for the club previously out of reach."

The Tigers believe their facility will surpass the Panthers academy as the premium facility in the NRL, and will be bettered only by the Fremantle Dockers on a national scale.

The facility will also include a retail portion, cafe and childcare facilities. If approved, it's likely construction will begin in early 2018.

Tedesco is a great player but he hasn't created something out of nothing for us in plenty of games.

He is easily our best player and I want to keep him but we aren't winning enough games with him here and we really could do with a game or two from him where he wins us the game. JAC came up with the big play against us last week. Tedesco needs to do that for us.

These guys really need to improve to demand a tonne of money or to complain about us not making the finals. It's their fault.
