Yep, that's right Reefy.

Not "Bird is in the bad books, what can we say thats bad about Bird" thats for sure.

Just a tip, if you are going to report "facts", maybe you should use actual facts. As far as facts go, I don't think they come in the "in your own words, please describe" category. :|

So if there is a group of us having a go at you, we are ganging up? But if it's just me that's not good enough?

Whatever champ. I know when to admit I am wrong, you obviously never will.

I can picture blacktip sitting at his PC somewhere, in the dark, cackling maniacally. Reefer, chill out a bit.

I'm not wrong.
you want to soften up what was said, go a head.
There was a good word for every player spoken about, except for Greg Bird.
& it was easy to tell that Raper was annoyed with the fact the team had to change all of it's game plan because of bird.

[dreamy wobble effect]
Laurie Daely "Are you in the market for a 5/8th?"
Stuart Raper "Are you kidding! we have Greg Bird! Greg f**king Bird! 5/8th is the last position our club needs filled. I told young Russ Aitken he may as well fugg off because as long as we have "Birdy" he's no chance of a start."

No, unlike you I put no spin on the interview whatsoever. I even said at the end of the post that I don't think Bird is a 5/8th.

You gave your interpretation. That's fine, I am sure it could be interpreted that way. It was when you peddled it as fact that you went too far. I have to wonder what else you pass of as fact when it is just an interpretation.

Graeme Arnold is the kicking coach. Assistant coach to F. Farina with socceroos and close friend of M. Johns. Does know a thing or two about kicking a ball.

fugg me, i'm confused!

nutters is DEFINATELY off contract. the man has told me. and other clubs know about it. including St George!

from what i remember, Sully is also off contract. that's what i was told by a player.

but now the coach says he is contracted?

and mcsharkie and reefy, get a fugging room, slap each other around and release the tension

I'm confused with all this is he/isn't he off contract stuff with Sully too. I thought he was off contract but there is no mention of it :?

Raper also mentioned that Sully was a natural hooker and an instinctive player

Some interesting points brought up by ALL forum members.

Can I be nieve and ask on what program did this interview take place?

On the retension of key players like Sully,Nutters etc.

I would like to say I am very confident the Sharks will keep who they want to keep. Judging by Rapers admiration for our key resignings I think we'll be sweet.

However, as a guess I wouldn't be surprised to see some favourites like Franze,Bird,Bickerstaff,Beattie shown the door to make way for some fresh faces. Of that lot I think we would be foolish to release Franze. He was one of our best before he had that knee injury. It usually takes players a full season to regain their confidence and pace again. Just look at Ryan Cross from the Roosters.

But whatever the developments I think we'll have a cracking squad for next season.

Judging by the excerts from the interview Raper has good communication and people skills which is one of the important traits of coaching. Well done Raper on how he has handled everything in coming to the Sharks in the situation he did.
:D

I was totally impressed with Raper last night. I think he is a top coach and definately knows his stuff. He seems pretty passionate about the Sharks and it is good to see him wearing his heart on his sleeve not only in interviews, but on the sidelines as well.

I think we will be firmly entrenched in the top 8 for many seasons to come.

There was a very interesting stat last night that was shown.

Our attack has improved heaps. In the first 5 rounds we were scoring 15.4 points per game, and in the last 6/7 games we have been scoring close to 30 points per game. Almost double.

A bad sign though, is that in the first 5 games we were conceding about 25 ish points a game and in the last 6/7 we have been letting in about 27 ish ppg. Rapes said it is a concern, but Penrith did the same sorta thing last year and look where they ended up

There is no doubt that our defence close to the line is an issue. I think they were very good against Brissy though. A couple of brain farts early and the consolation try at the end was all they could muster. Brissy were attacking our line on many occasions though and we held them out well. Maybe we have turned the corner.
