The expectation on Widdop to achieve is so great yet the ability of some around him is so limited that it all implodes as does Widdop.

The talk that we have a strong roster I find interesting as I wouldn't see too many of our current players getting poached and upgraded by another team let alone attract big TPA's.

I think the truth is we over rated many players we had and also those who came and we have found out the horrible truth is that many lack natural ability and instincts and the coaching staff can't teach them anything that will improve their game.

Yes some have stood out (Dugan & Aitken in particular) but in all honesty it wouldn't take too much for anyone to look the standout in our team.

Widdop is definitely performing well below his best and it is concerning as we may never see the best of him with the lunatics running the so called game plan and attacking structures.

I am sure if Widdop went to another team with slightly better cattle and an attacking mind set he would carve up against the likes of us.

Spot on Old Timer.

Skills and instincts are such an integral part of what makes a good player and our players have been found out badly, particularly our spine. Sure, coaches provide the structure and the game plan, but at the end of the day, its up to the players to make the right decisions on the field.

Back rowers and centres knowing which line to run, Halves and hookers knowing when to pass or when to take on the line, halves knowing when to throw a cut out pass, or hit the inside man depending on who can beat a defender, a fullback knowing when to go himself or pass and release his winger etc etc.

All of the above is decided in a split second during the flow of a game and goes beyond what coaching can do. We paid over $2m for a spine that should be able to execute all of the above and make right decisions.

Unfortunately, we've been badly short changed.

Short changed alright

Widdop should pay back what we have given him ....and add interest to it.

He Should be embarrassed into it.

Almost zero try assists

9 points a game...lol

Try drought past two years

Abysmal leader.....worse than Mary

Steve Timpson, if that be your name, you seem a little confused.

Is it "Widdop is good and no hack" or "Widdop should pay back what we have given him" based on his embarrassment.

Hard to keep a few different usernames going I guess.

Yep, I was supporting Widdop... up until I was told he joined in with the rest of the players during the week leading up to the warriors fiasco ....just talking about who would be playing for warriors and in what positions.

Made no effort to focus HIS team.

Once I understood that, he lost my support forever.

We have been badly robbed by signing losers like Widdop and Marshall on $$$$$$$$ with NO leadership passion or skills.

If you are happy with his leadership, no wonder great ex captains like Langland's and Raper are in despair about our once great club.

Time for a major overhaul....we need hard edge tough nose leadership

Not pansies.

Oust Doust, Mary, Widdop and Marshall.

If you are happy, I am happy for you.

Mediocrity!

Mary reminds me of when Craig Young coached us for a short time... way back, and the club sacked him.

No strong game plan, no attack, very few tries, and a boring footy style.

I am pretty confident that given a good coach who talks Widdops language, that Widdop would come good... very fast.

Poor coaches have a demoralising effect on players and teams.

I saw Widdop play vs NZ in our off season, he was good, and POM's won series 2 to 1.

Widdop is no hack.

Just needs some smart support above him....with him.

New to the forum according to this post but joined in 2013 and this one is your 74th post so your credibility is sadly lacking.

You need to log off first under 1 name and then log back in with which ever one will give the conflicting view.

Best you keep a note pad beside you to keep track of it all because your memory is letting you down and the posts are getting muddled under the respective user names.

Maybe try wearing skirts and stiletto's for Ruby posts, ugh boots and leather pants with a Cossack hat for Vas posts and a straight jacket for the Steve t posts.

Obviously not wearing your straight jacket yet.

For the record Widdop's kicking was absolute crap tonight but his general play a marked improvement and not too far away from being in good form again.

No doubt you will come out with a whole lot of crap but I know that you are such a miserable prick that if Santa Claus came down your chimney at Christmas you would want to charge him for break and enter.

Widdop 2/10
Marshall 3/10
Rein 6/10

Widdops kicking game tragic
Ran the ball with no conviction
Gave no leadership
His 6th tackle kick led to Canberra try
His hopeless field goal attempts
Could not even set up play or organise his team to have a decent FG attempt
His own attempt hit a Canberra player 5 MTS in front of him.
Passed a ball 3 MTS forward

NSW cup standard player.

Maybe even under that.

Its true that Cameron Smith, Bellamy and Cronk all got drunk together celebrating when Widdop took up our offer.

They told insiders it was as if a fairy godmother was looking over them.... they were that happy.

True story girls!!!

3 weeks to go now, he failed to get his minimum pass mark of 7.5/10 tonight

Mary and Oust Doust also scored him
2 /10 tonight.

But I am glad the rest of you are happy with him

That's so sweet girls!

Our second try was GW's no doubt... Good thing he won't be credited with the try assist right Vas?

He also did some good things. Cleaned up a few attacking raiders kicks and ran through a gap or two. Hopeless kicking game tonight. Things just haven't really clicked for him this year. Unfortunately he's all we've got. I think you're being a bit harsh however.

I think they should take the captaincy off Gaz and just let him play what he sees in front of him without the pressure of trying to produce a controlled game plan and lead the team around the park. He seems like he has too much shit going through his head and when that happens, you lose attention to detail.

He has way more to offer than we are currently seeing (although his reading of opposition attack on our own line is still second to none) and the coach needs to identify the problem and fix it before he "uncoaches" another one.

I have supported the mighty red V for well over 45 years and I?ll support the Mighty Dragons till I die.
But I call a spade a spade?.no point sugar coating it.
I have witness a lot of champion players and great team leaders in my time, but Widdop is just overpaid and overrated.

His kicks in play were absolutely abysmal, every kick was basically kick directly at the Raiders player, which almost cost us the game.
