The coach would probably have the same line of thinking. Except his idea of re-positioning revolved around moving Dugan to the centres to satisfy the whim of rep coaches, as he did last year.

Key players are not always available (injuries, rep duties etc) and therein lies opportunities to move players, especially when the team isn't performing. In such cases, it takes a bit of balls to experiment, but it isn't unheard of, especially amongst the better coaches. Marshall being used sparingly or when needed in the centres at the Broncos is a good example, if the rumours are true.

Just because someone can see potential in a player being in a different position doesn't automatically equal replacement. Unless assumption is what drives you most.

Dugan is still the best fullback in the club, that's my view. But he won't always be there... and daring to think about other possibilities and outcomes should be OK in any open discussion

Felix Unger could teach you a thing or two.

Hope that helps you through the weekend.

Old Timer you're the one who accused posters of twisting things and have a look, I have never quoted statistics. I have been expressing my opinion on his form based on what I see.

Which areas of his play do you believe are up to scratch?
Ball running
Game management
Playmaking
Defence
General kicking
Goal kicking
Captaincy

And you have been defending him and making excuses. If he isn't good enough, for what ever reason, he should not be the captain and playmaker. This role is too important to the team. Just like Mary should not be coach.

You are wasting your time. As you eluded to, this guy (and BrissyRedV isn't much better. He is just more subtle about it) will blame everything and everyone for Widdop but never Widdop himself. And if you say something like Lafai or Aitken's poor defence is due to having to cover for Widdop, he will blow his top and start eluding to homosexual activity between yourself and Lafai or Aitken.

I'm more interested in what especially he but also others on this forum will do in the event Widdop is dropped and released to the ESL (he won't get picked up by another NRL club) this season. I'm highly confident that will happen. His form is so bad it's a sick joke even McIdiot can't ignore. And they (the trippy old dude, BrissyRedV and etc) have made it perfectly clear their loyalty to Widdop far outweighs the success of the team and club.

Your plan is to have two fullbacks?

That could work.

Personally I'm in favor of moving Widdop to fullback and moving the other 12 players there also to try and cover for Widdop, the weakest link in attack and defence. Which is actually true. In any normal club, i.e. not run utterly incompetent idiots, it would sound absurd that the same player is the weakest link in attack and defence but at the Dragons it's not only true but he is the captain...... and people on this forum are still debating why this team is so bad.........:p

Vasglennurd has been trying to get Widdop isolated for criticism for so long with all his posts.
Widdop in his opinion was singularly to blame for everything and he could personally do nothing right.
He will no doubt now blame everyone else for Widdop's good performance and tell us that everyone else made his job so simple he didn't actually have to do anything.

Yesterday Widdop showed he still has it but needs a dominant forward pack and an organising halfback to perform to his potential. Question is, can our forward pack perform like they did yesterday each week? If they can, then Widdop will soon be lapping up the applauds and kind words and the Dragons will be on their way to the top 4.

Now, we really don't know what caused our players to come out of their shells and perform like world beaters yesterday. But whatever caused this great miracle, please repeat, repeat, repeat each and every round of the 2017 season.

2 tries, 2 try assists and 7 goals. Club record equaling 22 game day points. Not a bad day out. Hope he and the team can keep this up.
Widdop played very well and I think a large part of that was McCrone also played well and took pressure of him. On the back of a rampaging forward pack there is no reason why they cannot play like this week in week out.

The pack was exceptional. Really got the team on the front foot with metres and quick plays. Gave plenty of space for the backs. McInnes deserves much credit as well. He directed the ruck and provided quality ball and did not suffocate play.

McInnes was excellent. Actually, all 3 of our new recruits played well. I knew Vaughan would be a beast but wasn't sure how Macdonald would go. I thought Macdonald was very good. McInnes is the big one though. We needed a hooker that could get us going forward and it looks like we may have our man. Early days but all positive for a change!

MacDonald was the biggest surprise for mine. He really stood up defensively and is a real threat on that wing. What a difference a good quality win and couple weeks makes to the conversations on this forum

I knew you would be doing handstands. Widdop was average. In the second half he looked good when the Dragons forwards were rampaging. In the first 10min, while the Pewiff forwards were still holding on, it was business as usual and McCrone was taking charge. Let's see Widdop play okay when opposition forwards match ours. Who knows, if he can (which I very much doubt. I have seen enough for 3 years already) he may even get an offer from another NRL club as one hasn't been forthcoming from the Dragons and obviously Field is being groomed for 5/8.

Of course Widdop was average in comparison to the rest of the team. Compared to Penwiff players, he was very good. Compared to JDB, Duges, Vaughan, McInnes, Thommo and Frizz, he was average. I had to add that caveat or the trippy old dude may have lost his mind.

Hmmm you are truly geniused. What part of bugger off and do not involve or tag me in your idiotic rants do you not understand? We get it, you don't like Widdop and you are completely incapable of forming an unbiased opinion or giving credit where it due. Now piss off.

I thought Widdop played very well yesterday; probably the best game ever for the Dragons.
I have been one of those who have been calling for him not to be re-signed for next season however, I now realise it is not the cattle, it is the way they are prepared for the game and the game plan they are asked to play to.
