Credit where credit is due, Equalled the club record for points scored in a game for us.

Was by far his best game for the Red V. It's only been 1 good game so hopefully more to come. Wat I most enjoyed was the way he held up that pass for the last try.

I have no way of (legally) proving it and if you use the same security I do, no way of proving it at all but the fact you haven't denied it is pretty telling. You are both also online at the same time on Sunday night......I have said too much! This forum would be painfully boring without you so please carry on as you are.
As for Widdop, if he puts together games like that on a regular basis in the next 10 rounds, games where certainly Dragons forwards are not running rampant over the enemy as they were last game, I will gladly admit, I was wrong and if Widdop is willing to take a pay cut of at least 20%, he should be re-signed. If he is much better than yesterday over the next 10 rounds I will gladly admit his re-signing should be a priority.

I very much doubt the SGI forwards will dominate the opposition like yesterday very much. Just because the enemy will realize this is the game plan and be extremely fired up to prevent it. Of course I still think the SGI forwards are among the best, if not the best in the competition but they won't dominate like they did yesterday very often no matter how good they are.

I have to explain these things in full or you and Mr Hyde and etc will flip out on me, stating that I think the SGI forwards are rubbish and etc.

And BTW, I am not "Sigurd" or "Vasilevsky" but no comment on whether or not I also the other "smoker" (along with the trippy old dude), Saint_JimmyG".
I was just wondering, who was the last poster to refer to the opposition as the "Enemy"?
It may just be a coincidence I suppose!

Off the topic slightly but , Egad ! ! I just looked at the NRL ladder and those Dragons are sitting on top of the ladder - who would had thought .
To the media know-alls , go suck some bluudy big eggs !

If we are still there after 6 weeks gareth I will then start to believe.
I will also have to apologize to a few players for bagging them.
But if I do have to it will be great

Yes Sammy , I fully agree with you on that score , 6-8 weeks down the track and then we will know just how the team is really travelling .

I hope that as many fans as possible get to these early home games to support the Dragons , the more, the better ,as it would certainly lift the team to greater heights . However , it was ever so nice for the boys , to have the media back-pedalling somewhat .

The Dragons odds have now been slashed ( for what it is worth )from $101 - $34 in the latest betting - amazing , amazing what a win will do for the teams morale and also apparently the bookies line of thought !

Samy
Remember past criticisms were levelled at past effort and results so warranted at the time you levelled them
Reward them with compliments for new and better effort and results but don't apologise for the past as it may have been the very essence of the change we are witnessing

I see. I would have thought to say "NON medicinal" implies there is medicine which is smoked. But again, as above I'm wrong and I apologize. And you are definitely "Vas"!!!

If I was familiar with Lenin quotations, I guess this would be an appropriate time to demonstrate it. However, as I am not, I'll pass on this little bit of worldly advice which reminds me of you.

"And, there's a very fine line between charisma and bullshit" (J. Reyne)

No need for any apologies either.

Lenin? Who is that? Like the guy from the Beatles? Whatever you say Vas. I apologize for apologizing.

So anyway, if Vas has finished lets get back on topic. Crush was right about that last try. Thommo had a bit of work to do but Widdop, for the first time I have seen, took the ball to the line, held up the pass and delivered it perfectly putting Thommo through a hole. First time in 3 years for a marquee playmaker! I want to see a lot more of that before I stop calling for him to be dropped and it's extremely unlikely he will be re-signed unless there is a lot more of that.

And in the interview after the game Thommo eluded to this as well. When asked about the attack he said something to end of it's what happens if the forwards go forward and halves take the ball to the line.

in the interest of procedural fairness what say everyone starts with a clean slate as it looks on face value that the dynamics within the coaching, the team management and playing style have changed for the better.
It would be nice if you, as I did with de Belin, give praise to players when it is due (no caveats) and then we can all contemplate the prospects of a bright future and not reflect on the tempestuous past.
Widdop may or may not have been the victim of given circumstances that affected his ability on the field. That is a personal point of view.
His form on Saturday suggests he has something in him much better than what we have seen over the last 2 years and now it is up to him to carry that forward.
Hopeful the team sticks with a positive style and that will be easily evidenced from the results we obtain.
No doubt like all players he will throw in an average performance here and there but they should be judged on the day not the past.
There is a lot to be said for the power of positive thinking as against constant negativity for the sake of being proven right.

Lol @ Vas trying to claim Saint JimmyG is Vas! Although his initial interactions on this forum were dripping with a superiority complex, his level-headed opinion towards players, ability to have a reasonable discussion and general non-cockbaggery suggest otherwise.

I also like Glennilevskys logic that BrissyRedV and myself were logged on at the same time on Sunday night means we are the same person. It's like he saw Clarke Kent and Superman together and goes 'OMG, THEY ARE THE SAME PERSON!'

It was a PB for Widdop. The club record in first grade is 36 points held by Les Griffin and Jack Lindwall.

I believe it was advertised as equalling the highest points in a game since the joint venture.

Also, 5 Dragons made the nrl team of the week - including Gareth. Others with more football knowledge than Glenn01 seem to think he did better than average.

Firstly are you addressing me or Saint Jimmy, aka, Vas?

That last paragraph was a nice embellishment. Is that the only way I came to such a conclusion? You should have just let it pass. As I said about proving it but that last paragraph is just more circumstantial evidence. Anyway you, Mr Hyde along with Dr Jeckal compliment each other very well so carry on as you are.

So let's get back on topic. Did you see that last try? First time I have seen Widdop do that in 3 years. Can we agree as he is our marquee playmaker (as stated by this coach and the last) we expect MUCH more of that? Whether or not it leads to a try every time isn't important. What's important is that he takes the ball to the line on a regular basis and creates options for long or short passes or kicks or to run himself and in so doing prevents the opposition from sliding across in numbers easily nullifying backline movements. Rather than telegraph every play 10 meters in front of the opposition line as he has been doing for 3 years.

Cockbaggery? Well, it was Mardi Gras last week

Memo to self: must Google that one.
