Who will Hunt be more suited to as a 5/8

Widdop
Field
Bird
Mann

I have no idea hence why I'm asking
Tough question Mickeylane.
I don't think bird is a 6. He strikes me more like a center or backrower.
I think Mann looks like a winger or a fullback. I'm not sure that he is a 6.
Field looks very promising. I would hope that he is given this year to develop either in reserve grade or first grade but not on the bench as a utility. He needs game time.
Widdop could work well if he becomes consistent. BUT he has proven over the past two years that he is very up and down and we can't carry a 6 down on confidence into games, especially when he is goalkicking.
So I would say field has the most potential to be a good long term partner to hunt.

I believe it was advertised as equalling the highest points in a game since the joint venture.

Also, 5 Dragons made the nrl team of the week - including Gareth. Others with more football knowledge than Glenn01 seem to think he did better than average.
Well if my argument are so stupid, naive, ignorant or what ever, why do you feel the need to distort what I actually say? I said Widdop was average in comparison with some other Dragons players.
Probably my fault. Evidently I have to be perfectly clear in whatever or I have several forum contributors losing their little minds. Widdop was good, Duges and the entire starting pack was great. Or Widdop was great and Duges and the entire starting pack was fantastic. Or Widdop was outstanding, Duges and the entire starting pack put on deity-like performances.
Happy now?
Anyway, BennyV (aka, Mr Hyde) surprisingly (sarcasm) declined to answer this. Can you? Or CAN ANYONE? Trippy old dude, that means you to. And medicine smockin Saint Jimmy, aka Vas, don't you be shy either. I would ask BrissyRedV (aka Dr Jeckal) but he will just reply and say he is ignoring me (possibly using more colourful language) .

Did everyone see that last try? First time I have seen Widdop do that in 3 years. Can we agree as he is our marquee playmaker (as stated by this coach and the last) we expect MUCH more of that? Whether or not it leads to a try every time isn't important. What's important is that he takes the ball to the line on a regular basis and creates options for long or short passes or kicks or to run himself and in so doing prevents the opposition from sliding across in numbers easily nullifying backline movements. Rather than telegraph every play 10 meters in front of the opposition line as he has been doing for 3 years.

Bird is signed with another club. Widdop played well last game but has been shocking for at least 2 years before that. Let's see him put in a lot more games like that before considering re-signing him. Mann showed potential in the 9s in the halves but not so much. He wasn't so good. For example, the halves now playing NSW or QLD Cup for Melbourne and Rorters were much better. Field has shown tremendous potential. His frame is big enough for him to pack on a lot more muscle and not lose his speed and agility.

At this time, from what I have seen, IMO the answer to your question is Field by light-years. I was wondering about Dufty at 5/8. He has excellent ball skills. Not sure about his kicking and defence.

Hey Vas, don't forget about your old mate Benji!

Widdop produced the goods at five-eighth last Saturday. Mann and Field have not been given a chance at 6, only at 7. There are a lot of ifs however, if we look at the next say 3 year period, I would go for:
1. Mann
2. Field
3. Widdop
4. Bird

I've rated the above players in order taking into consideration their potential salary cost and perceived ability to work well with Hunt. If we don't find a spot for Mann we will lose hime at years end. Field is signed for 3 years and needs some development at first grade level. Widdop on his day is a top line five-eighth however, we may not be able to afford him. I don't believe Bird wants to return to the Dragons.

That's an...................... interesting username. Is it the name of your favorite gay bar?
Well done Glenn 01 following in the footsteps of all your former warped identities.
If that is the best you have to offer, then you are a mere shadow of your former self.
In fact if you were to shadow box with Vas he would knock you out and even the Bintang girl would beat you on a TKO.

.

Nope. Sorry Glenneth my boy. Never been there. (I assume you mean Belgrade??)

Vas tried this bullshit with me before, where he was a downright racist merkin towards Serbians (no idea where he got the impression that I'm Serbian - maybe he misinterpreted my username? You've also taken something of an interest in my username... Weird coincidence.)

Anyways, enjoy the trip. :) hopefully you have excellent Internet coverage while you're over there, and we can all keep up to date with your travels.

He was also the only other person on this forum to use the term 'vis-a-vis' (incorrectly I might add), and the only other person to infer that JB has something to do with homosexuality.

Cracks are become gaping canyons!

I would say you have been smokin with the trippy old dude but I tend to believe it is merely the lines vis-a-vis yourself and Dr Jekyll becoming more blurred. I think it's a good thing. I am/was worried about your mental health. At least you have stopped sending messages to yourself.

Don't worry about these...... individuals like the guy with THAT username, the trippy old dude......... They say in Germany, you know, SBD82's favorite country; If you want to catch a &#%$*, send a &#%$*. i.e we shouldn't worry about them. let them worry about each other.

Right back on topic and for the third time. What do you think about the following statements and what is your answer to the question?

Glenn, I have bagged Widdop on here as much as anyone. But you have to admit he had a fantastic game on Saturday.

Thommo's 2nd try, watch Widdop straighten just slightly which caused Thommo's defender to lean left towards Widdop, and this was all Thommo needed to score the try. These subtle movements which cause doubt in defenders are what make the best halves. JT and Cronk are the masters at this.

Widdop needs more than 1 good game to make up for the crap he has produced in recent times, but it's certainly a good start.

That is pretty much precisely as I have said. Though I disagree slightly about Thommos second try. Yes, Widdop did well but I put it down mostly to Thommo and Penwiffs poor defence. Though for Thommos third, Widdop did very well. Thommo still had a bit of work to do but Widdop couldn't have done any more than he did. My position, as I have asked a few times only to have the guy with THAT username, the trippy old dude, the guy who can't go to Beograd and of course Mr Hyde, aka BennyV consistently try to ruin the thread with their nonsense, is that as the marquee playmaker and given the salary he is on and has been on for 3 years, we should expect MUCH more of that.

I've said the same thing about Duges as well. They have been our 2 marquis signings of recent times, both on big $$. They have to take ownership of how the team performs and for the most part, neither have lived up to expectations.

But both played fantastic on the weekend so credit where credit is due. But they need to be doing this week in week out if we're going to be successful.
