That is pretty much precisely as I have said. Though I disagree slightly about Thommos second try. Yes, Widdop did well but I put it down mostly to Thommo and Penwiffs poor defence. Though for Thommos third, Widdop did very well. Thommo still had a bit of work to do but Widdop couldn't have done any more than he did. My position, as I have asked a few times only to have the guy with THAT username, the trippy old dude, the guy who can't go to Beograd and of course Mr Hyde, aka BennyV consistently try to ruin the thread with their nonsense, is that as the marquee playmaker and given the salary he is on and has been on for 3 years, we should expect MUCH more of that.

This thread was started by an individual going by the name of Vasilevsky. My name is "Glenn01". Notice the difference? Let's forget about these trolls. Poor SBD82 is trying so hard to be noticed. No doubt he privately refers to this thread as "My Struggle"....... Where have I heard that before?

So moving right along and not allowing ourselves to be sidetracked by these trolls thinking their trolling won't get noticed by calling me a troll.

I agree with "gizbo71's" basic premise stated on the last page of this thread. I'm not so hardline as him or her. I don't mind if Widdop has a shocker next game IF he again takes the ball to the line on a regular basis and leaves the enemy guessing as to whether he will pass, long or short, run himself or kick it. If he does this on a regular basis, I don't care if he drops the ball several times and generally has a bad game all round. Even players like Thurston occasionally have such games. It just gets noticed less because he is so good at doing what I want more of Widdop doing.

I don't think this is too much to expect. I don't expect him to match Thurston but being our marquee playmaker and being on big money this year and for the last 3, he should keep doing what he did which lead to Tommos third try last game but even more so. If he does this, with our rampaging forward pack and rampaging fullback and serviceable outside backs, this team will be a force to be reckoned with.

He passed long putting Thommo through the line untouched and from there it was easy for Thommo to beat the last defender, probably the fullback Moylan.

First time I have seen him do it in 3 years. I expect to see a LOT more of it before I change my opinion on Widdop. Doesn't have to lead to a try or line break every time, of course, but as he is our "marquee playmaker" and has been and is still being paid accordingly, I expect to see a lot more of it before his re-signing is even considered.
