Oh no. You are not you! You are the VASILEVSKY! Anyone who expresses dissatisfaction with Widdop is the same person. The character Vasilevsky, the forum deity so many are infatuated with is actually posting under the usernames of 6 or 7 or more people. Add yourself to that now.

And on another note, look at the third page of this thread:

The early pages are full of these kinds of posts and the forum deity was getting flamed. After the early pages, as the year wore on and the horrible truth become too hard to ignore most messages were pretty much just as with the idiot above.

Nope....but I am happy if you want to rate widdop more than 2/10. Pls tell me in point form what he brings to the team if you so desire. Pls provide statistics to support any of your claims.

He provides one good game in 3 years, or more like half a game, on the back of a hopelessly dominant forward pack and after a guy for the opposition to target in attack and a guy to pretty much ignore in defence.

I said nothing about rating Widdop, but do in fact rate him above 2 out of 10. No point form text though, I do not desire.

Hello trippy old dude. How much have you been smoking this morning?

Looking at the games since this thread was started, IMO the only possible reasons to deny Widdop is the weakest link in attack and defence are:
A: The inferiority complex vis-a-vis Melbourne is so severe, they can't even begin to comprehend the possibility someone poached from Melbourne isn't any good.
B: That person goes through life in illicit substance induced delirium.
C: They have some kind of personal reason to deny the obvious truth.
D: They are just very naive and simplistic and have Bellamys endorsement ringing in their ears after (but not a peep before) Widdop signed with SGI.

No prizes for selecting which category you fit into.

I bagged Widdop quite badly before the season started but he's played really well so far this year. He seems like a new man with Benji gone. He has to take a bit more control though and demand the ball on the left. His kicking game could improve a little as well.

I just think you give me too much credit. I note you used the past tense. Now 3/4 of the forum understands Widdop is rubbish. But it was the forum deity, VASILEVSKY, who was the early standard bearer. I don't deserve any accolades. You can claim them if you like. The war is almost over. The fascists have been defeated (and Widdop can take the credit for that) and now we are just trying to catch the collaborator stragglers before they are given safe passage to a place far away. No point in arguing about it.

Just because Widdop hid behind McCrone last week and was hardly sighted, doesn't mean Widdop played well. It just means he managed to hide and hardly be sighted so a lot of entities posting here can say he played well. That's pretty normal for this place.

I'm a massive Widdop fan

But he has been awful this season. His obsession with the grubber is bizarre. Lost all confidence.

But I'll remind his death riders of the class he showed in our biggest game of last season.

This is one of my favorite (in a black comedic way) Widdop stories. When this whole episode is over and done with, it's something I will look back on fondly. Fondly because no matter how bad SGI are, I will be able to remind myself of things like this and think "Well it could be worse."

He is referring to the semi-final at the end of 2015. The smaller, fitter Dragons forwards were hopelessly dominating the fat Dogs forwards for a large portion of the second half. In the last 15 to 20 minutes the fat Dogs were hopelessly exhausted. Marshall was playing very well but was taken out with around 20 minutes to go.

Taking full advantage like all good halves do, Widdop had 0 tries, 0 try assists, 0 line breaks and 0 line break assists. But he did pretty much hand the game to them with THAT kick which was totally unnecessary to even try given the way SGI was dominating field position.

Yet apparently Widdop played well that game....................... God have mercy over SGI.

Really? Must have been playing behind an excellent forward pack for most of the year. Though he wasn't that bad as far as I remember. Hardly Thurston or Johns-like but playing behind a dominant forward pack I don't doubt he could set up a lot of tries and line breaks.

Maybe watch all the replays for the last 3 years and give a minute by minute breakdown so we can all see what it is you see.
If we had that level of detail every time Widdop was visible on the screen it will no doubt in your "minds" enhance your cause.

When your not practising your clown juggling, it's obvious that you groom the horses and get them ready for the Grand Parade.
Next time the ringmaster yells at you to put the blinkers on, remember he probably means the horses.

I know, but having just retired I have spent a bit too much time in here looking for things to do.
Best I go down to the yard and pick up the dog poop, nope better not do that either, might find someone I know.
Dog poop actually reminds me of Vas because it doesn't matter how much you pick up and bury there is always some there tomorrow.
Might look up a recipe for dinner "chicken" of course.

okkkkay... getting right back on topic.

So far this season I rate Widdop 5/10. Counting the CS, 3.67/10. He only gets a 2 last game. That was a good try in equal parts to JDB, LAM and Widdop but if it weren't for that he would have gotten 1. Hiding behind McCrone all game just doesn't cut it for me.

Over the last 3 years and 2 games I rate around 1/10. The worst half in the NRL by some margin and last year, the worst captain in the history of SGI and possibly in the history of St George.
