Haven't seen them for a while, don't watch Super League.

Radlinski - solid but unspectacular. I keep hearing about Stuart Reardon, is he worth a run?

Carney - nothing special but looks a good winger.

Horne - adapted well playing out of position, might be dangerous closer in, any chance of this?

Senior - big, fast, strong hard-running centre, nothing subtle about this bloke.

Connolly - strong defensively, boring as batshit otherwise.

Sculthorpe - The world's best lock.

Long - Had some moments but halves like him are dime-a-dozen over here.

Forshaw - keeping Sculthorpe's seat warm.

Farrell - Best game I've seen from this vastly over-rated player. Finally showed something to justify his reputation.

Peacock - Looks a quality player, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

Morley - We all knowhow good he is.

Newton - an absolute grub, a real cheap-shot merchant. Can't make a tackle without putting in an elbow or a facial.

Fielden - Looks top drawer, lots of NRL clubs would love to have him on their books.

McDermott and Anderson - good big men, but no better than what we have over here at most clubs.

Can't even name the other two.

Can't argue with most of that. Horne is only young, and will probably end either as GB 5/8 or fullback is he continues his development. I think Waite's theory he was too good to leave out.

Gilmour was ok off the bench and Deacon didn't do much except that side line conversion. There are some better more talented players in the England A side. Hopefully half this team will be squeezed out by better players in the next couple of years.

Got to agree about the talent in the England A team. I would hope to see them step up very soon. I have high hopes for the likes of McGuire, Burrow, Tickle & Lynch to name just a few.

About Horney - yes he is young (turned 21 3 months ago) but he's got bags of experience already. At the begining of the season he celebrated his 100th 1st team game for Hull and is now over the 120 mark. That's pretty incredible considering his age. I saw him on his debut against Leeds at the tender age of 16 and I knew within 10 minutes that he would be a future GB player. What he really needs now is to find his best position and be left there to develop. Unfortunately his versatility has gone against him and he's been shunted around a fair bit to cover for injuries etc. Next season at Hull I expect him to have the no. 7 Jersey and injuries permitting, to stay there all season.

Also watch out in the next year or so for his little brother Graeme. He was part of the GB Academy side that beat the Aussie Schoolboys last year and he's impressed me every time he's played this season.

Radlinski didn't have his best game, he supported well but couldn't hold on to the passes. And his defence was suspect at times - the worst I've ever seen him tackle.

Carney is a special player, but apart from a few tackle busts (and not forgetting the two tries) he didn't do much.

Newton should start playing like he does for Wigan, at times this season he looked better than any hooker in the NRL. I quote Terry O'Connor here: "When Terry Newton plays well, Wigan play well."

at other forums i stick up for the esl against narrow minded Aussies who think the \\esl is premier league status but that is one of the stupidest things ive heard. Have you heard of Craig Wing??? He is one of the best players in the world and definately the best hooker!!!! And buderus is a great player aswell!!!

To be honest, I usually acknowledge Buderus as the best hooker in the world. But he didn't look that good on Saturday and an on form Newton would have really shown him up. Also, Wing's not a hooker in my opinion, just a frustrated half-back.

Newton is very good. Back in 2001 I rated him as one of the best 5 players in England. His form in the last few weeks of this season was back up there. Agreed his first Test showing was poor.

We keep hearing about so many Aussies unavailable but I have drawn up a very impressive list of Brits who are unavailable as well.

Cunningham
Pryce
Briers
Bailey
Walker
Orr
Wellens
O'Connor
Lowes
Johnson
Mason
Fozzard
Carvell
not to mention others like Stankevich, Bennett and Jonkers.

Agree with most of that nqboy except that Carney is a better player than you give him credit for. Radlinski had a nightmare and played well below his usual standards; if he's out of form, Reardon deserves his chance. I think your'e missing: Gilmour who nothing wrong without being outstanding;and Deacon, who looked much more threatening than Long when he replaced him. He's surely got to start the next test.

At times Newton seems to be brain-dead, but so what? He's a hooker. He gives away too many needless penalties but he will get stuck in and rattle the Kangaroos. Perhaps he's too tough for those nice NRL boys.

Probably just Cunningham, although a lot of brits would like to see Danny Orr and Lee Briers given a chance. Unfortunately for them there's a string of new halfbacks currently with the England A team that might just nick in there before them.

I think the thing for most of us Brits is not "Who's not available" it's "Who's Waite not picking". There are at least 5 players in the England A team than I would pick above some of the GB test squad (McGuire, Burrow, Gleeson, Lynch & Tickle).

Cunningham - injured
Pryce - awaiting sentencing
Briers - injured
Bailey - not good enough yet
Walker - not good enough period
Orr - knocking on the door ( but Waite`s a bit deaf )
Wellens - out of form
O'Connor - retired
Lowes - retired
Johnson - not good enough
Mason - not good enough
Fozzard - unlucky not to be picked in the squad
Carvell - don`t even mention him in the same breath as a Great Britain shirt
not to mention others like Stankevich, Bennett and Jonkers.None of whom are G.B. class .

Whether you think they're good enough or not isn't really relevant. What is relevant is that Waite has lost 5 or 6 of his original GB squad for one reason or another.

So you may as well say G.B. had dozens of players missing simply because they weren`t good enough to be picked .

Bailey is wearing a tag as he is just out of jail and his curfew is 7PM. The ashes matches kick off at 6.30 so he would be arrested if not at home. Chev walker is currently in Wetherby prison. The rest of the list bar Cunningham are no better than what was on offer last week

Wing is not a frustrated half, he is the best hooker in the game. Buderus is 2nd, Luke Priddis next, and probably PJ Marsh next.

None would ever be stupic enough to play the way Newton did. he was a disgrace, and Waite shouldn't pick him on principle

Newton was silly, he chose some stupid moments to do it. I hope he picks the correct moments to be a dirty bastard on Saturday.

if the British attitude is that there are appropriate times for dirty play, then they deserve to lose. Judging by the comments attributed to Newton in the Sydney Morning Herald, he's just an idiot, plain and simple. No time for him, end of story (and he's not close to the best hooker in the world)

Just on Newton, I agree he played like a thug. But I thought the last penalty where he lashed out at hegarty was in retaliation, anyone agree? Still doesn't excuse him though.
