I'd love it if he had a blinder...and I'll be the first to put my hand up to say if he did.

But I find it highly unlikely.

I think Hookey is a talented player, don't get me wrong. He's a good finisher.

His defence is just shocking at the moment. If that can be fixed (with good coaching, it can be), then he can be a valuable member of our team.

Why did we even sign Hookey?

He was useless at Souths and retired and nobody was sad to see him go yet he became a starter in first grade as soon as he got to Penrith.

The guy has a pretty good tryscoring record over several season worth of FG. Its just a pity he plays touch footie without the ball.

Looks like John Williams will come into the side for Grothe

speed won't be an issue for whoever he marks up against.

BUGGER!

Well that just sucks arse doesn't it.

Two people that I was afraid would come into the team are now in it....bugger me.

Williams and Hayne have been scoring at will in Premier League and tbh I really rate John Williams based on what I saw of him in PL and the bit of FG he played last year. He is also quite a capable goal-kicker.

Rooney will have to be on his game.

It's interesting that the Eels have one of there NSW Under 19 reps in First Grade in HAYNE and a couple of others in the wings.

Our NSW Under 19 representative Michael Jennings is yet to play Flegg? The Club are certainly not rushing with young Jennings.

Inu would problably have made 1st grade by now if not for injuries this year considering he hasn't played for a month as wasn't named on Tuesday in any grade I can't see how he'll play for the NSW under 19's side, which to be honest he shouldn't be elgible for considering last year he played for New Zealand 'A'.

While Hayne and Williams have scored at will in reggies including a 4 try effort from Hayne last week it is just that reggies there is a big step up.

Brett Delaney was the best centre in the entire Premier League comp last year but hasn't been able to find the same form in 1st grade.

Panthers are starting to lose the chocolate soldier tag again. Don't know if we can do it this year, but I'm certainly tipping a great season next year with the signing of a couple of new faces and blokes like Jennings stepping up into the first string team.

Cross, Clinton, Rodney Rude, Waterhouse will all be bigger, better and stronger. Puletua will be all class again, along with the pig, Wesser and Lukey L. Hopefully Junior Moors can find the animal instinct and the big winger from SG Ball, and maybe even that young bloke, Shane Blackett? He seems to have the goods out on the field but falls well short of the mark in the showers after the affray. So I hear?

A good performance overall. Its not easy to come back from a 10-0 deficit after 7 minutes. Leaving aside the sluggish start the forwards dominated and we should have won by a far bigger margin. All in all a solid performance.

I agree, Lewis had a blinder at 5/8th.

Always good to beat Parra (I must admit), but hopefully the way is up soon for the Eels after all that's happened.

It was almost a carbon copy of the Souths match (apart from the result, give or take a couple of points) - brilliant in patches, ordinary in others. But we did enough to secure victory. To come down from 10-0 down after only 7 minutes showed plenty of ticker though.

I was told that this win will get us back in the 8... is that true?

Also, winning all three grades was a highlight last night too. Quite surprised that Riddell and Smith had quiet games against the Cougars... I thought they may have been spurred on by their demotion.

Jarrod Hayne impressed me mate...stick with him...he's good stuff.

Also when is young Ben Farrer gonna get a crack at centre for you guys? he seems likely.

FROM PI MATCH REPORT:

Question: Happy with the performance, John?
John: I'm happy with the result ... but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot, you know. We scored a try two minutes before half time, then gave a way a penalty in possession and then didn't defend it. I mean, the number of tries we've had scored this year a minute before half time or a minute before full time or something is just ridiculous. We're just losing our focus ...

My sentiments exactly...we can't afford to do this against top teams

In big, big games....the last and first 5 minutes of each half determine the outcome of the match. Thats where the good teams are mentally stronger than their opponants and that's where you win games like this. We need to get that back, the same as we had it in 03' and 04'.

As of now I think it does but other results this weekend may push us back out again.

thats the first time I've seen Hayne, very impressed with what little opportunity he had

Farrer will have to get in the queue, while we need forwards to step up, we've got depth in our centres;Tahu, Ben Smith, and Kris Inu ahead of him, then of course, there's Jamie Lyoin if he returns.

We are expecting big things from Inu, similar to that of Hayne

Then there is Brett Delaney, but Ben Smith will force him back to PL and he will be elswhere next year, if what we are hearing is correct.

Good luck for the rest of the season guys :thumb
