Only problem with the Tago to 2nd row idea is that I think Alamoti is much better on the wing. Milky at centre would be interesting though.

Anyway, its a nice problem to have. Probably no coincidence that the entire backline has gotten more consistent since there's been genuine competition for spots.

Totally agree. I've been very impressed with Patea.....his leg speed and drive along with a great little offload was a sight to behold.

Great story and he might be the option going forward capwise but I think some are forgetting how strong Alamoti started the year and what he delivered in the finals, for a young kid new to a system to be shifted around like that consistently, even mid game is crazy impressive.
I’m huge fan of PA, it’s not a knock on him, Milky is just combining well with Casey and making big plays.

Good problem to have indeed! Seems all the boys in the backline have pulled their fingers out..

Now I've been very fair to Tago and haven't given him shit in ages since he was dropped but that contract would be a great one to get off the books if Milky holds his form. Something the club should definitely consider. Perth would snap him up in a heartbeat.
Since he was dropped! Hahaha that will never not be funny, almost as amusing as you suggesting that we drop the best back rower in the comp…. To teach him a lesson!

You still don't believe Tago has shown noticeable improvement after being dropped to the bench? Come on man

Dogs YTD.

1: W by 8 - Dragons (ass team) Bottom 8 Team
2: W by 16 - Titans (ass team) Bottom 8 Team Spoon favs
3: W by 8 - Eels (ass team and no Moses) Bottom 8 Team
4: W by 14 - Sharks (ass team) Top 8 team however
5: W by 20 - Knights (ass team) Bottom 8 Team
6: Bye
7: W by 32 - Souths (ass team) Bottom 8 Team 2nd last
8: L by 24 - Brisbane (Top 8ish team) Top 8 team
9: W by 20 - Titans (ass team) Bottom 8 Team Spoon favs
10: W by 12 - Canberra (Going good) Top 8 team
11: W by 4 - Roosters (Good win, will give them that one) Top 8 team
12: L by 36 - Dolphins (Origin outs) Bottom 8 Team
13: Bye
14: W by 18 - Eels (ass team, but a win with Moses playing) Bottom 8 Team
15: W by 8 - Souths (ass team, no origin players) Bottom 8 Team 2nd last
16 Bye Number 3.

Out of all that nonsense, id say three wins against genuine top 8 teams being Sharks and Raiders and Roosters. Sharks being a stretch as they can win by 40 or lose by 40 and Roosters play well above where they should be in 2025

I understand you play what is in front of you, but a win this Thursday will go a long long way to wiping the arrogant smiles of a huge portion of these merkin ass fans who drive me crazy..

I don’t think his Benching had anything to do do with it at all. Lots of stuff changed around that time, including the way we are now attacking.

He was on the bench for a half of football, that is not making a difference to any player.
Can and did make all difference when the issue is mental

So you think that Isaac Tago had some sort of “I can’t believe he benched me” moment and just decided that all of a sudden he’d better start playing better….. are you joking? If that was the case, he’d never be playing in that team again.

Tago isn’t individually playing that much different, the team is just playing better.

agreed - Tago ran with some venom in every run he had against NZ, he actually looked like a high $$$ centre

Jenkins, Alamoti & Mclean - all could play Centre & Wing if required mid match - Tago only got moved to 2nd row because we had no one available - it would be smart business to let him go know if we have to make a call - Jenkins, Alamoti & Mclean could all cover what we lose with Tago.

it's a shame he's on decent coin - he probably would be a good 14 for us, but thats a very expensive 14 sitting on the bench most of the game

There are a million different potential factors that can affect motivation in a human. Impossible to say the degree to which being benched affected him, though he certainly has been better since then. Speaking like its a certainty either way is a bit much though.

I honestly do think that. Anyways he's travelling pretty well now, still not anywhere near his ceiling but hopefully he continues to improve.

Jenkins ain’t getting dropped surely?

I think PA on the bench as a utility
Good call.

PA can easily cover 2, 3, 4, and 5. He could cover 1 and 6 with a bit of training time there.

Far better option for a 14 which also allows Ivan to rest overworked players. He could move Tago to backrow for a short period as well.

So many options with this guy.

Alamoti is 100% in our top 4 outside backs but the bench thing is interesting because we have never really had a 14 with explosive athletic ability before.

We have historically had a back rower double as a centre, what's the problem with the other way. I'm talking Tago here and plug Alamoti as a 14 into the centres. He's proven being able to play both sides, in last year's GF he went from left centre to right wing when Bizza went off, and we all saw the match winner.

This way we cover so much with the options of resting. It also helps the club when we finally get through origin because even the young fella's who are in form might need a spell.
