5-8 has been our target for a while now.

Yes I honestly think we will have to. BS will have the same job. I'm not expecting anything different.

Well then we won't get past week 2, after a long tough season of Cleary doing 90% of the kicking will be too much.

Hopefully there is a trick or 2 up the sleeve

Ivan is like 20 years into his career and is still to figure out how to get a 14 into the game

Never change Chins, Never change.......:)

I think bringing Brad in would have worked about as well as when Ciraldo brought Galvin on.

Players fit enough to manage. They were in a good groove, why muck it up.

Correct Alice that's why you should always pick a 14 who has a use without an injury happening.
Far too often Ivan ties a hand behind his own back

Based on his injury?

Not just this but the hammy's last year, He has cut extra kicking back to visualisation

Ref's put the whistle away in finals, so will get dog shots as he is kicking. Please the general wear and tear across a season

Hopefully the extra point allows us to rest guys at the end of the year

I think he is already within his limits. Got a fair bit of faith in strength/conditioning to be honest. Do we have the best in the comp? I can't see another club managing these guys as good as we do.

Resting is just out the window. We couldn't get it done early in the season when we needed to. Eels game maybe. I'd look at To'o considering Alamoti is catching a cold. He is our best To'o replacement.

Refs are very uptight on kick pressure. Bonus for us if they go for it. You think they won't blow a penalty if Cleary clutches at his leg? Its a cheat code if anything.

he has a decent kicking game but he would do a job from fullback.

For example on Thursday we have Nathan carrying an injury. Talagi had 1 kick

The week before with no Nathan, Talagi was the senior half and gave us 4 kicks.

This is in a side where the fullback and hooker has no kicking game.

This is why if we carry Toelau, Laurie or someone on the bench then we need to get them game time to take the pressure off

He doesnt have the speed for fb. Hes an out an out 6. His kicking game has been really good and you can see he is building into the season.

Schnieder was definitely the senior half against the wahs haha. Cmon mate. He was playing the nath role.

Laurie doesnt have the defence to play in the middle and toelaus defence is also not up to scratch in the middle.

Brads tge way forward and has been really good the last few weeks. The more time he and nath get together the better they will get. He ckeary has a good kicking game. Just about easing him in

You are both right. Ciro bringing on Galvin hurt the Bulldogs. It was not a good idea to use a bench resource - 'just because'.

But Chin is also right, having a bench player who is useful beyond injury insurance is what Ivan should be aiming at and often doesn't.

Right now in the NRL - selecting Brad Schneider on the bench tells the opposition coaches that Nathan is not 100%. It leaves next to Zero uncertainty in their minds about that and they can plan, train and play with that in mind. There is no need to give the opposition a leg up like that unnecessarily.

The only logical explanation is that Ivan feels that the risk to the teams winning prospects of Nathan coming off injured is greater than the wasted bench spot.

If Nathan heals and overcomes the niggles, I would want to see someone actually useful on the Bench, and I prefer Cole to be halves/backs cover over Schneider.

He can kick and i wish he'd do it more he has a Burton sized monster but hes not for whatever reason. So he might as well have no kicking game.

He definitely doesnt have burtons boot

But he has a good kicking game.

Ivan is just easing him in.

People need to remember hes basically in his first full year of fg and barely played 6 at parra.

The level of improvement since he came in to now is huge. He just needs to keep building.

I don't know mate it looks like a huge boot. So much so he needs to reign it in a little

Burton kicks the ball 5-10m higher and a good 5-10m longer than any kicker ive ever seen.

They way he strikes the ball is incredible and no one gets close to him in the nrl atm for distance or height.

What burton lacks is finese..he doesnt have the 40/20 ability of nath and his short and mid field kicking game is predictable.

Him and galvin together will be a disaster..to similar

I think with practice talagi could kick the same. Like I said hes just not doing it for some reason.

Ivans just easing him into fg. Not trying to put to much pressure on him.

I cant see him ever getting close to burtons boot. But he definitely has a good kicking game and will be exciting to see where hes at over the next 2 or so years.

I think you can already see hes sponging off nath. You can see them communicating after tries etc.

Ivans been using his bench the same way this entire time. He values stability over flexibility and is (I think with some justificstion) of the view that our standard forward rotation is strong enough to not require a 14 that can contribute to reducing their fatigue. Its a philosophy thing and while not everyone (including myself) will agree, its the philosophy hes followed to 4 straight premierships. Its not changing and its not really giving all that much away to the opposition either.

He'd be close the fastest we have, faster than Edwards

Schneider is a reserve grader. Talagi has hopes and likely is 6 come finals time.

Schneider did that same role last year, he was the senior guy when he played with Luai

Then if he is than he needs to be used as lock and get some gametime

They are but if they take out Cleary, do we beat them? I'd take the risk if I was Ricky or someone

Nathan 2021-2022 had an absolutely massive boot as well it was 90-95% of peak Burton but with accuracy. He seems to have reined it in a little even pre-hamstring. Not sure we will ever see it again given the hammy issues which is a shame. His Spiral bombs put the fear of God into the opposition.
