Rd 17 vs Tigers

Get real we'd need Girdler and Freddy to be our missing centres for that to be true

Girdler was a terrible defender. His trademark defensive effort was to go for the intercept. Otherwise he often did a pretty good turnstile impersonation. Our winning streak in 2003 was without Girdler playing a game. On his return, we get touched up by Melbourne at home with his edge being carved to ribbons.

In present day. Our current predicament isn't helped by missing our 2 first choice centres.

It is playing without the semblance of any form of gameplan, and really not being able to execute our plays. The final ball let us down at least 3 times and probably cost us 3 tries.

Also I would bet top dollar we have made more unsupported line-breaks this season than any other side. The number of times we have busted the line and the ball runner is looking around for support is mind boggling. There should always be someone there in support given our ability to offload.

That is so glaringly obvious that I wonder if it comes to down to apathetic coaching and players.

We won 12 and lost 3 with Girdler in the side after he returned from injury. I'd suggest it was he who was doing most of the carving, especially in the finals series. It was good enough to get him picked for Australia at 31.

You don't think Whare closes the gap on Tedesco? For atleast 2 of their tries? Same for most of our losses

Its all hypothetical franklin. Maybe he does, we will never know. Whare has more speed than Bryce, but not even in the same league as Tedesco. He was the quickest player on the field by a mile.

We can't bomb 3 tries, complete at 65% and miss 40 tackles and also expect to win games. Credit to the Tigpies - they were simply better than us when it mattered.

How does that rebut anything I said? Yep, he was brilliant with ball in hand. I never slammed his ability in that regard. He set points records which will probably never be broken and he is one of my favourite players.

Yet I still stand by my opinion he was a poor defender.

That whole side were called poor defenders right up until the end. When it really mattered they stood up. I think Ryan was adequate, especially compared to some of the players running around now.

Shit was depressing, hope killing. Hard to know where to begin. Need to try hiding Cartwright in the middle and hope it works. Grevsmuhl is a worry too, unfortunately looking like a bad signing. And then stop throwing the ball to the other team.

We are intent on turning into the Tigers, it appears. It seems Griffin wants the young halves combination (hence his refusal to entertain the thought of Moylan at 6) and us throwing the ball around.

So yeah, that's a sound model to emulate.

So because he hasn't picked Moylan at 6, he's not entertaining the thought? Even though Moylans pretty much playing at 6 in attack and we just signed a fullback?

For your reading leisure:

There has also been some talk it could entice Griffin to fast-track Matt Moylan into the halves, where many believe the skipper will eventually end up anyway.

Griffin immediately ruled that out.

?I haven?t brought him here to do that,? Griffin said.

?I am being straight up with you, I haven?t brought him here to play fullback and move Moylan to five-eighth.

of course. How much defence has Blake done at centre? How much from Bryce? all the training in the world can't compete with game time. We have the best defensive centre injured. I'd like to think he'd atleast talk more so 1 or 2 of these aren't scored.

We completed well against Souths yet almost lost. So not just this game being a trait all year. Lose concentration concede a couple of simple tries and game lost or made closer
